Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Line 50 - in the sentence, after "had been ..." lack of any verb, please improve it

Lines 169-175 - please improve sequence of the following sentences, I think, it would be better like this: "

“Annual precipitation (AP), annual average temperature (AAT), and actual evapotranspiration (AET) were used to assess climate change and variability. AET is the most excellent indicator for hydrological cycle and a central link to water-balance calculations, with increasing importance in assessing the potential impacts of climate change [47]. And the AET was calculated based on the above meteorological data using the Budyko-type equation proposed by Choudhury [48, 49]. Annual AET was derived by summing the monthly values within one year.”

Line 200-201 - please use either singular or plural number

Line 294 - the same remark as above

Line 405 - please find out this sentence, I think it should be:

“No complete or detailed information about all natural and socioeconomic factors could be found…”

Line 412 - please find out the sentence, it is not quite inderstandable in "to changes ..."

Line 424 - revise the sentence, because between "...(on average)" and "the urban population" lacks some word

In Tables 2 and 3 please use the same number of figures after point, for example for patch density in 1980 should be 0,10, in Table 3 give 0,0 and so on.

In Table 3 please give unit (km2) for area in the title

In Table 5, explain abbreviations P and F and use the same number of figures for P

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear authors,

I found that the manuscript   it easy to follow with sufficient literature review, appropriate research design and well described methods. The results were well presented and discussed with fitting conclusion.

However, I have some small suggestions.

Table 2: Column "Definitions" begin with capital letter.

Add property units to tables

In figures add titles to axes

Many thanks.
