Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The article tackles a very interesting topic, considering both the importance of the role of social media and of circular economy practice. It s well structured and original. However, further revisions are necessary before its publication.

First of all, I cannot understand (correct me if I wrong): You wrote that the study consisted of two methods: i) Literature Review and ii) Interviews, but, I cannot understand how literature review contributes to the study. The relative section appears incomplete and detached from the rest of the work. Please, explain and revise.

Secondly, in the last part of the paper, the limits (together with future research ideas and contributions to practice and literature) have to be included in the conclusions.

Lastly, the contributions of the work has to be strenghenedand more stressed.

Good luck with the paper.

Congratulations on choosing the theme. The study is well written and the scope is relevant to advancing the circular economy.
Some opportunities to improve the paper:
- Move forward in a more critical discussion on how consumers can extend the life of products by reusing materials. especially, to show how the Social Practice Theory can contribute to the minimization of this currently existing gap.
- Process virtualization is a relevant mechanism for the circular economy. But how does this virtualization carried out by facebook implement the reuse of materials? How to convert this practice into something socially relevant in different social contexts?
- The Social Practice Theory highlights that the social order is incorporated through shared knowledge. How can social media effectively contribute to the expansion of the circular economy in different continents, organizations and sectors? How to convince people to buy products from the circular economy?
- Interconnected routine behaviors are the essence of the Social Practice Theory. How to create strong connections between the different actors in a network, in a production chain so that it is possible to dematerialize products and re-signify materials with high levels of efficiency and productivity? How social media can contribute to promoting this urgently needed advancement.
- Symbolic and cognitive structures of knowledge are references of the Social Practice Theory. What are the relevant symbolic structures for consumers to extend the shelf life of products by reusing materials. How to make this come true?
We wish the authors success. We encourage this more critical reflection and the construction of a closer interface between circular economy and Social Practice Theory. And the role of facebook in this process of disseminating good practices in the circular economy.
