Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This research focuses on using and improving SPI – Safety Practice Index in the manufacturing industry as an effective indicator for safety accident prevention.

The paper is overall well structured, but, in my opinion, some corrections are needed.

Form suggestions

  • Line 30 - Please add the full name of CNBC
  • Line 46 - Table 1 A comparison would be helpful with data relating to a Southern Europe country, which has a slightly different prevention system, for better completion of the examination.
  • Line 102 - Full names and acronyms should be better placed when they first appear in the text (please compare lines 102 and 108 for the “Security Practices Index”)
  • Table 10 conceptually repeats what has already been described in figure 2, but in my opinion, figure 2 is more effective. Please re-evaluate whether or not to keep the table in the text.
  • The paper needs a final check for several typos.”

Substantive remarks

  • The paper’s aims are not clear within the work, both in the abstract and in the introduction.
  • In my opinion, the use of the SPI – Safety Practice Index is not explicit: Is it already developed? Is it already present in the literature? If already present, please cite the reference literature. If not, please better define.
  • Line 105-116 It is suggested to review the content, which must be included in the methods.
  • Lines 334, 371, 4727: Is it a statistical correlation or a simple association? Please clarify

Dear authors,

I read your paper "A Study on the Application of the Safety Practice Index to Reduce Safety Accidents in the Manufacturing Industry". I suggest some improvements :

a) about safety management : 10.15866/irece.v12i2.20023 and 10.3390/app10030903 . These authors use simulation in different safety management aspects. Please consider these papers.

b) about formatting and conclusions correct line 465. About conclusions : I think you have to underline the weakness of your work and trace the route for future.

Do these changes and you'll get the result
