  1. The authors have made a text, but many parts of the English and expression are difficult to understand or contain sentences that do not have proper scientific content.  So, the authors will need to rewrite the text and afterwards the abstract and the conclusions.  Some of the topical headings used in the main text should be given in the abstract to improve its content.
  2. The introduction of this manuscript is unestructured. The introduction should be changed to deeply addresses the topics of this work
  3. Please check refs., More references paper is need. Number the refs in the list.
  4. How about ending the paper on a positive remark this?

Reviewer 2 Report

The Authors of the paper presented issues related to waste management in the MENA region. In the countries of this region, the waste management systems used are imperfect. They are based only on collection, transport and disposal. The Authors presented an in-depth analysis of this problem in the context of closed-loop solid waste management. The research covered Algeria, Egypt, Jordan and Morocco from 20 countries in this region. The total MENA population has increased 4.6 times in the past seventy years, with half of the population living in cities. This increase has a very large impact on the amount of waste generated.

Various practices and approaches to solid waste management used in selected countries were identified. The scope of application of the policy, regulations and technologies of solid waste management and attempts to apply the circular economy were defined.

The Authors noted that the approach to "waste" should be changed - this is not a problem. Waste is a huge material resource that can be used through treatment and recycling.

Recommendations are presented for MENA governments to promote an integrated solid waste hierarchy by local authorities.

Detailed comments:

There is numbering in the text and no such numbering in the list. It is illegible. Needs improvement

How many countries are there in MENA (in text 19, in table 20) - according to which literature is the number given?

Why is the description of the waste structure in Algeria different from that shown in Figure 1?

Why the data in Table 2, for example for Egypt, are 29.8 million tons, and in p. 2.2. 26 million tons? Do they relate to other years? This should be clarified.

A thorough text correction should be carried out.
