Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In the manuscript, the Authors present the results of a survey regarding the improvement of agricultural policy in the field of organic farming development in China. The idea of the study was to explore the possibilities of individualizing this policy according to the characteristics of farmers and the type of farms. The work is regionally oriented since it concerns one province in China. The prospects of application of the theoretical and practical results of the research to other regions of the world - despite the Authors' assurances - are very limited.

The entire manuscript, the section of discussion of the results, and conclusions are prepared correctly, but definitely too long, repeating the same content and theses. In my opinion, the article can be shortened by at least 1-2 pages without detriment to the quality, especially the final part. The Authors use the word "deinsectization" dozens of times, I suggest searching for a more appropriate expression in the English language and also using synonyms.

In the lines 63-65:

In this section it would be good to link the discussion with SDG of UNDP, since it is very crucial the point the “Small scale farming and small farmers can help meet sustainable development and climate goals”. A very brief linkage to SDG can increase the role/perspectives while it needs a special attention and incentives.

Under the section 2/subsection Environmental characteristics, the authors are well referring different farmers/farming linkage to production. I would recommend adding a reference related to Indigenous Traditional Knowledge (ITK) that is developed over a period of time through accumulation of experiences and intimate understanding of environment. Actually this knowledge is gradually vanishing due to population pressure and industrial development.

In the line 602

Discussing the limitations, would be good to address also the specific situations as covid-19, or unpredicted riots or conflicts even locally but acting at the wider scale.

Reviewer 3 Report

The manuscript "Small-Scale Farmers’ Preference Heterogeneity for Green-Agriculture Policy Incentives Identified by Choice Experiment" is comprised of an extensive and comprehensive set of experiments. Furthermore, the language quality and scientific interpretation are satisfactory.
