A Short Review of Recent Progress in Improving the Fracture Toughness of FRP Composites Using Short Fibers
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Wang, Y; and co-authors present a manuscript that shows a short review of recent progress in improving the fracture toughness of FRP composites using short fibers.
This review is presented in a clear manner and the conclusions appear to be supported by the data presented. However, there are some revisions that the authors would need to address :
-Improve figure legends (for example Average Residual… ), scale, and legends (for example CF9-SAF8) in Figure 4
-Improve the resolution for panels (d) and (f). Format text (superscript, for example, 7.8 mg/cm2) in the figure caption for Figure 5
-Improve legends in panels (b), (d), and (f) of Figure 8. The authors can use another text font.
-Improve legends in panels (a), (b), and (d) of Figure 9. Use other text Font for scale.

Paper discussed about incorporating short fibers in FRP composite. Topic is interesting and also sustainable development for construction materials always important. However, in my opinion, the article some shortcomings that should be corrected. They are the following:
- The abstract does not give an executive summary of the research work. It does not contain a brief background and research problem as the opening paragraphs. Also, the findings were not well summarized in the abstract
- Major problem of the paper is structural flow. it recommended to sub divided the discussion part. Then summarize the results for each property.
- Most of the cases, directly the published literature is presented. But not explain the scientific facts or authors option about the trend.
- What is future research direction. For short review, it important provide possible direction of future research.
- Conclusion is not focused on the findings.
