Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The title is “Emerging agroecology: paradigm to avoid cultural deruralisation in Paraguay”

From this title, I can see this MS is talking on the 2 main topics first “Emerging agroecology” and second on “cultural deruralisation”

The authors should follow the scientific instructions for publication, which include

1- explain any scientific term for the reader especially non-specific one like

“hermeneutic phenomenology”, “cultural deruralisation”, etc.

2- Any abbreviation must explain first the complete word then use the abbreviation especially in the abstract, what does mean all these abbreviations for the reader??????/

“: State Support E=15, D=4, 14 IDE=18; Slow Insertion of the Paradigm: E=14, D=5, IDE=19; Family Farming: E=8, D=10, IDE=18; 15 Market Niches: E=7, D=4, IDE=11; No Assistance or Support: E=7, D=3, IDE=10; and Healthy Consumption: E=5, D=3, IDE=8”

3- All details for the study methodology must mention in the section of M and M???

I did not find any details about this “the researchers and select participants” How many and all details????

4- The authors must use accepted methods in their study (I mean methods confirmed by published peer reviewed articles not from website like this:

“The data collection technique was 110 based on in-depth interviews, using the Interview Guide developed by Rural 21”

5- Any Tables and figures must include all information without referring to the text? Any abbreviations must include the meaning, the source and others like formatting?

In Table 1 many abbreviations are unknown????

6- the list of references must be written according to the instruction of the journal??

I did NOT see any instructions already have been followed by authors?

Simply, the language here is only English, but several refs. Are in another language??? Definitely not accepted, the authors can translate into English and end their ref. with the original in French or Paraguayan language or other????

7- the introduction section, needs to be written again, simply the authors should write this section in smooth “clear” or fit manner for example:

Starting with first paragraph about the agroecology, agroecological practices and its potential and its cons and pros.??

Second should be about the problem of cultural deruralisation globally (if any) and Paraguay, why the author selected this topic, its potential and how we can avoid etc….

Author Response

Dear reviewer 1,

1) We restructured the paper by changing the focus. The previous paper called Emerging agroecology: paradigm to avoid cultural deruralisation in Paraguay referred to rootedness and now we call it Approach to the imaginaries of agroecology in Paraguay and analyzes agroecology in an exploratory way as an imaginary of different actors.

2) The introduction was rewritten.

3) In-text citations and references were made using Vancouver Style. Titles of books or articles whose originals were not in English remain in the original language.

4) The article was translated by a person whose native language is English.

5) The methodology was clarified with respect to the number and type of actors interviewed.

6) We included the meaning of the abbreviations used in the tables.

7) The Discussion was expanded.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript entitled “Emerging agroecology: paradigm to avoid cultural deruralisation in Paraguay” by María JoséAparicio
, Amado Insfrán and Carmiña Soto. This research engages with the debate on why, notwithstanding the
benefits offered by agroecological practices, these have not yet significantly impacted producers or
consumers. Agroecology is useful for more holistically understanding the dynamics of a community system and characterizing potential sustainability transitioning opportunities and related intersections to inform innovation and pathways to unlocking regime rules. Research is very important and interesting. This qualitative study is partly observational and descriptive, with an interpretative
framework rooted in hermeneutic phenomenology but is very weak.
The structure of the manuscript is extremely flawed.

Manuscript has potential, but in present form is not acceptable for publication. The article needs to be corrected in accordance with the requirements and supplement.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript entitled “Emerging agroecology: paradigm to avoid cultural deruralisation in Paraguay” by María JoséAparicio, Amado Insfrán and Carmiña Soto. This study revealed convergent aspects in the imaginaries of divergent actors. Agroecology is useful for more holistically understanding the dynamics of a community food system and characterizing potential sustainability transitioning opportunities and related intersections to inform innovation and pathways to unlocking regime rules. Agro-food systems, however, are often absent in sustainability transitions literature. This research attempts to fill this gap by combining methodological and theoretical insights from participatory action research, agroecology and sustainability transitions literature. Research is very important and interesting. The problem is very well presented and explained.
Manuscript has potential, but in present form is not acceptable for publication. The article needs to be corrected in accordance with the journal requirements.
