Compressive and Shear Strengths of Coir Fibre Reinforced Activated Carbon Stabilised Lateritic Soil
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Back ground of the statement need a reference since it is not you result. The 1st paragraph is ( line 38-45) is written without reference.
Line 51 to 55. Environmental pollution during cement production. What about fibers? Aggressive comparison
Line 66. “Synthetic fibres are more durable and highly resilient exposed to environmental changes”. Are you comparing with cement reinforced? If so, how can it be?
Line 83. Bao et al. (2021) …… . Is it refence 18 or 19? you can change it as authors of [19] also showed ….
In over all the paper is well written and good

Dear Authors,
The manuscript submitted for review entitled "Compressive and Shear Strengths of Coir Fibre Reinforced Activated Carbon Stabilized Lateritic Soil" by Sakin Tamassoki, Nik Norsyahariati Nik Daud, Fauzan Mohd Jakarni, Faradiella Mohd. Kusin, Ahmad Safuan A. Rashid and Mohammad Jawed Roshan addresses current issues related to the impact of activated carbon (AC) and coir fiber (ACF) on the geotechnical properties of lateritic soil in order to soil stabilization and reinforcement.
The manuscript is written correctly and the content presented corresponds to the formulated topic. The paper contains an adequate theoretical introduction, the aim and scope of the work and the experimental part concluded with correctly formulated conclusions. Literature sources were selected in accordance with the subject of the work. The work meets the formal requirements, its volume is sufficient.
However, there are several issues that should be clarified:
1. Please give units in SI system, e.g. kg/m3 and not Mg/m3 or gr/cm3,
2. When giving information on materials and equipment, please indicate the manufacturer, city and country,
3. Natural fibers degrade faster than synthetic fibers - this issue should be addressed, how long do the authors think the demonstrated beneficial properties of soil filled with ACF will last, what will happen next?
4. In the graphs presenting the results of the study, the standard deviation should be included, while in the text a paragraph on statistical analysis should be introduced,
5. Conclusions should refer not only directly to the results of obtained research but also to utilitarian aspects,
6. All literature should be checked carefully, because several items are written incorrectly.
7. The manuscript should be checked again to be completely in accordance with the guidelines of the journal "Sustainability".
After incorporating these corrections, the manuscript can be published in "Sustainability" journal.
Best regards,
