Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper is well written.

The descriptive and diagrammatic presentations are good. The interpretations are fully based on this. I would request the authors to test the hypothesis: How does the impact of commodity price fluctuations affect the commodity price forecasts? Similarly, other tests can also be carried out. Also, see at what significance level the test is rejected (p-value) and then interpret the same in reference to the hypothesis. Also, address how country-to-country variation affects the commodity prices?

Reviewer 2 Report

The article is a simple literature review. The authors did a very difficult job. However, the basic question is: does this work change anything in state or fiscal policy?

Reviewer 3 Report

I have read the paper with great interest. I suggest following revisions:

- please devote a paragraph or two to provide evidence on the changes if there are between scholars in the West and East.

- you have reviewed the methods, can you also write more about why the methods doing research on this topic has been changing?

- is there any way to see if studies on specific country have lost interest, and some countries are gaining attention by scholars more rapidly?

The study is well written otherwise.

Reviewer 4 Report

This is an interesting paper on the bibliometrics associated with commodity price research.   While the work is interesting and thorough, I feel the authors are too modest in their discussion.  It would be good to see the authors spend more time discussing why this particular analysis is useful and what the implications of their work are.  For example, the authors could propose that the top three institutions form a center for commodity price research as they would have critical mass of academics active in the field; or, the authors could identify gaps in the research and suggest more funding be dedicated to said gaps.

Perhaps beyond the scope of the current work, but it would be insightful to spend a little more time on the authors and their coauthor network and background.  It would be interesting to see how similar the authors' backgrounds are.  That could highlight potential problems if it is too similar (sort of a Scott Page Many Models analysis).  "While there are a lot of authors in this space it turns out that they all have very similar background so the diversity of thought and perspective is much lower than one might suspect...."  Something like that.

Finally, there are a few minor grammatical issues, and a few acronyms that are used before being defined or that are never defined (especially in the machine learning section).
