Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Important experimental and simulation results were obtained in the study. However, no comparison has been made with the results in the literature, which includes solution suggestions for receiver overheating protection. Making these comparisons will better reveal the contribution of this study to the literature.

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors report on the modeling and characterisation of high solar concentration by the use of a Fresnel lens. The manuscript presents an interesting research approach based on a CCD camera, however there are several issues to be resolved in the manuscript.
There is significant literature around the topic that can greatly aid towards the characterisation of highly concentrated sunlight, but is currently missing from the manuscript. The authors should also refer to this literature to elucidate several misconceptions in relation to the achievable solar concentration on earth. A thorough proofreading by a native speaker is also required throughout the manuscript. Detailed comments are included in the attached pdf file.
