Dear authors,

I think this is a nice contribution. However, it needs a minor revision before acceptance:

  1. Please clearly describe the novelty of this paper
  2. Add the most recent references related to this study
  3. English needs improvement

The distinguished Reviewer:

Thank you very much for your advice on my article. I will respond to your comments:

Point 1:  Please clearly describe the novelty of this paper.

Response 1: Thank you very much for your recognition of my article.

The innovation of this paper is that the cluster load of ground buildings is introduced into the load tide theory for the first time, and based on the real data of zhengzhou building load, the geoid undulation and vertical crustal deformation caused by the load of buildings in this area are calculated. The method presented in this paper is of practical significance to predict and calculate the geoid undulation and vertical crustal deformation caused by some large cluster buildings and to study the elevation.

Point 2:  Add the most recent references related to this study.

Response 2: References have been added. Please kindly see:

Yingchun Shen [20]et al. compared the calculation accuracy of green's function and spherical harmonic function for surface displacement under surface fluid mass load. Xihe Wang[21]et al. used spherical harmonic transformation and load response theory to calculate the surface deformation of the surrounding area when the surface water storage migrates greatly.Wanqiu Li [22]et al. studied the vertical deformation of land water load in China in recent 10 months by using radial load Lev number. Point 3:  English needs improvement.

Response 3: Thank you for the comments which are in consistent with Reviewer #1. We have taken your suggestion seriously and improved our English.

Kind regards.

It is good and important topic to have sustaiable infrastructure. But, I believe you need to explain how to validate the results based on ground measurement as well as forumalation implementation .

For instance, it is difficult for me to understand how to derive table 1 results from your proposed formulation in chapter 2.  And how to validate those results with ground based information are not clearly mentioned.

Thank you very much for your advice on my article. I will respond to your comments:

Point 1:  It is good and important topic to have sustaiable infrastructure. But, I believe you need to explain how to validate the results based on ground measurement as well as forumalation implementation .

Response 1: Thank you very much for the comment。In the past, there were few researches on the deformation in Zhengzhou and it was not easy to measure.  But the theory has been proved correct in many ways.  So there is no specific data comparison.  However, I still supplemented the ground deformation trend in this area and added the analysis and corroborated it according to your requirement.

  • 3. Discussion    change to 3.3. Discussion and Verification    (line371)
  • Some sentences in the statement have been adjusted (line376-382  adjust to line372-376)
  • Add:

In order to verify the results calculated in this paper, they should be compared with the measured data.  However, the ground deformation is related to loading buildings, groundwater exploitation, urban population development and other factors.  Therefore, this paper is compared with the measured ground deformation trend in this area.  Through InSAR data inversion, the land subsidence rate of the study area in 2013 is shown in Fig 14, with an average value of 9mm/a.  From 2007 to 2018, the accumulated settlement in the study area reached 150mm in Fig15. The overall trend of settlement. The settlement center is located in the international convention and Exhibition center, which is consistent with the calculation trend in this paper.   ï¼ˆline393-402)

Point 2:  For instance, it is difficult for me to understand how to derive table 1 results from your proposed formulation in chapter 2.  And how to validate those results with ground based information are not clearly mentioned.

Response 2: Add:

2.3 Counting process

According to the calculation formula in 2.1, formula (15) and formula (18) are adopted for vertical displacement and horizontal displacement generated by single buildings on the ground. Formula (26) and formula (30) are adopted for geoid fluctuation and inclination.  Formula (31) can calculate the vertical displacement produced by cluster load on zhengzhou Millennium Square International Convention and Exhibition Center.  Formula (34) can calculate the horizontal displacement produced by cluster load on zhengzhou Millennium Square International Convention and Exhibition Center.  Formula (36) can calculate the geoid fluctuation caused by cluster load on zhengzhou Millennium Square International Convention and Exhibition Center.  Formula (37) can calculate the geoid tilt caused by cluster load on the International Convention and Exhibition Center in Zhengzhou Millennium Square. It can be seen from the above formula that vertical displacement, horizontal displacement, fluctuation of geoid and inclination of geoid are proportional to the earth radius R, building mass M and the corresponding load LOVE number.  And the earth mass M, building and the target body and the core of the Angle β is inversely proportional.  The included Angle β can be converted by the latitude and longitude of the building and the target body, and is directly related to the distance between the building and the target body.  Given the earth radius R, the corresponding load LOVE number, the earth mass M;  By substituting the building mass M and the distance R between the building and the target body into the above formula, table 1 and Table 2 can be calculated.(line273-292)
