Multi-Scenario Simulation and Prediction of Regional Habitat Quality Based on a System Dynamic and Patch-Generating Land-Use Simulation Coupling Model—A Case Study of Jilin Province
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The paper investigates the regional habitat quality based on the System Dynamics model, PLUS model, and InVEST HQ model in Jilin Province of China. Except for a few grammatical errors, the paper is generally well written and concise, and also provides a good amount of scientific information. The method is rigorous and the results are substantive. Hence, I recommend the paper for publication. Please see my minor comments below to further improve this paper.
- Please use the full form of the models in the title
- Line 53: Please use the full form of the models. Between, SolVES is used for mapping cultural ecosystem services, which is different from HQ.
- Line 126: Please provide the details of the data, like what is original source, etc.
- For Figure 8, please use a location box to highlight the changes.
- 5. You may add a few policy recommendations.

Dear authors, this manuscript is actually the result of mature work. I am happy to say that in my point of view it can be accepted for publication after some minor revisions. In particular:
- Please use passive voice within the manuscript.
- Please enlarge all the figures within the manuscript.
- Please add a workflow of the methodology. It will be very useful for your readers.
It was a pleasure to read such a well-structured manuscript, with an excellent presentation.

The manuscript entitled “Multi scenario simulation and prediction of regional habitat quality based on SD-PLUS coupling model – a case study of Jilin Province” presents a study of evaluation and future urban expansion scenarios considering economic priorities and development. The main characteristic of this study is the analysis based on habitat quality using a system dynamic (SD) model coupled with a land-use model. The study area is Jilin Province, China, which increased 69% in construction land in 20 years. The article is promising and can be considered suitable for publication in the Sustainability journal. There are only two minor issues that the authors must fix: Figure 1 must-have latitude and longitude information, and the references must follow the journal's authors' guidelines.
