Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors aimed to examine the, "Quantifying the Competitiveness of Cultural Industry and its impacts on Chinese Economic Growth”. Overall, the manuscript is well written in all sections of the manuscript, followed by sound methods with results from wide study settings. The study is meaningful in the current situation and context. However, I would like to provide the following comments and suggestions being considered before being accepted for publication.

Abstract: I suggest authors should rewrite the abstract by elaborating it more by adding the total number of study subjects as well in addition to study design and conclusions.

Literature Review: The study can be considered a constructive addition to the existing literature on the topic. The literature review is well synthesized and based on that author(s) developed their conceptual framework to draw further testable hypotheses. However, if the authors can express their main concern/ problem addressed by research/study and the authors could add more contemporary literature in the study area.

Data: The authors have used the secondary data retrieved from the National Bureau of Statistics of China, for which they need to justify their study and data collection for the study context.

The result should be a bit more clear to the reader.

In the conclusions part, I would like to suggest authors corelate their findings with the related literature as well as evidences from a few other countries. What has already been innovated, discussed; what is new discovery of this paper?

Also, I suggest a few more sentences on how this paper will add to the literature gap?

Results are expected to be a bit clearer to the reader. Could authors re-write the results section of the paper by also adding the discussion part.

The language & terminology and style are of academic style and above average. Overall, the author(s) demonstrated an appreciable level of curiosity, thoughtfulness, and understanding of the study.
