Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper mainly studies Spatial and Temporal Divergence in the Coupling Coordination of Digital Economy, Environmental Regulation and Sustainable Development. The thesis topic has certain practical significance. However, the paper still has the following problems to be modified.

Introduction. At present, this part only reviews the literature. However, there is no introduction of research background, research purpose, marginal contribution and follow-up structure. It is suggested that the author rewrite the introduction to supplement the above content.

The Literature Review. No introduction to the literature gap. It is suggested to add the content of this part.

Table 1. Measurement indicators of Digital economy are too simple to comprehensively represent digital economy.

The empirical part lacks the robustness test. So I question the results of the empirical analysis.

Conclusion and Prospect. Lack of theoretical and practical implications. Lack of research.

The references cannot support the overall research of the paper. It is suggested to add.

Reviewer 2 Report

The research depth of this article is limited, and the overall structure is not complete enough.

1. Literature review rarely introduces the coupling relationship among these three parts, and lacks the analysis of coupling mechanism. How does the author correctly explain the coupling mechanism between these three system is crucial.

2. The kernel density formula and its explanation are missing in the third part.

3. The provinces represented by each number in Figure 4 are not clear, and it is not intuitive to analyze only from the change in the number of clusters in each quadrant. It is suggested that the map should be used to show the distribution of local Moran clustering.

4. In the empirical part, the analysis of influencing factors should be added to improve the structure of this article.

Reviewer 3 Report

the abstract does not provide what is the aim of article

form of citations should be improved

a literature review is based only on very specific selected publications - the authors did not refer to significant publications when it comes to sustainable development and the digital economy

limitations should be better developed

Review for Spatial and Temporal Divergence in the Coupling Coordination of Digital Economy, Environmental Regulation and Sustainable Development: An Experience Study in China

The authors write a very interesting and necessary contribution by measuring the levels of digital economy, environmental regulation and sustainable development and constructing a coupling and coordination model to identify the spatial and temporal variation characteristics of the coupled and coordinated development. This paper is written very well and I have an observation for the introduction and literature review as follows:

Introduction

The current introduction fails to meet the minimum requirements for an academic journal. I would advise the author to re-write the introduction in the following manner (Background, Overview of important studies for the research, the gap identified, the important contributions of the study, a summary of key results of the paper, how the rest of the paper is organized)

Literature Review

I would suggest to the authors to add recent studies on digitalization, technology and sustainability:

1)      Tamasiga, P.; Onyeaka, H.; Ouassou, E.h. Unlocking the Green Economy in African Countries: An Integrated Framework of FinTech as an Enabler of the Transition to Sustainability. Energies 202215, 8658. https://doi.org/10.3390/en15228658
