The contribution appears clear in the structure and in the definition of the objectives and methodology. The graphic kit is adequate and the bibliography also seems appropriate. The paper has an appreciable scientific soundenss and publication is recommended.

Reviewer 3 Report

This study proposes the adoption of the protection motivation theory in order to investigate residents’ perceptions and their adaptation intentions to climate change risks.

The study is well documented and the methodology proposed is clear.

More information could be proposed on the statistical indices used (i.e. Root Mean Square Error of Approximation, RMSEA, Comparative Fit Index, CFI, Tucker -Lewis Index ,TLI,...) that are only mentioned (see section 4.2).

Another (little) remark at page 6, line 243  "Tourism revenue reached 301.682 billion CNY, accounting for 36.1% of tourism revenue of Hunan and 19.1% of the GNP of the CZT": please insert also the value in US dollars.

Reviewer 4 Report

The title of the paper implies a generalization, but which cannot be supported by the text of the paper. In my opinion, the reactions to climate change of the population in urban destinations cannot be generalized based on a questionnaire applied to 497 respondents. The differences are major from one continent to another, from one country to another. Including in the case of China, the variables are very diverse from one province to another. Therefore, I consider that: - either the authors change the title, making strict reference to the analyzed geographical area, - or give examples from different countries/provinces. Such an analysis, be it empirical, requires many more elements to be taken into account.
