Comments on Review manuscript 2538785

Recommendations: Major Revision

The authors presented research titled: Power source importance assessment based on load importance 2 and new energy uncertainty. Kindly find my comments:

1.       Kindly improve your abstract and include specific findings in quantitative form.

2.       Review your keywords to specific words or short phrase instead of writing almost sentences.

3.       In 2021, my country proposed the concept of "new: line 28 page 1, which country? Revised sentence and remove personification.

4.       The equations should be properly checked for consistency and proper definition of terms.

5.       At present, a series of studies on node importance have been carried out at home and 38 abroad. Line 38 page 1Revised sentence and put sentence in a better global perspective.

6.       Paper objective and novelty not properly presented.

7.       The conclusion needs to be improve. It did not represents properly the obtained results. Some quantitative date should be included.

8.       State from your results the consequence of the findings to the country in question.

9.       The manuscript will require some English editing.

Reviewer 2 Report

1.       I suggest adding nomenclature to describe the abbreviations and symbols of the equations.

Point 1: Abstract

1.       Background and Problem Statement: The abstract begins well by stating the importance of evaluating power sources and loads in the context of increasing new energy penetration. However, it would be helpful to include a brief statement about the specific challenges or problems related to new energy sources' uncertainty and its impact on power system safety, stability, and reliability. This would give readers a better understanding of the research context.

2.       Aim/Objectives: The abstract states the aim of the paper as proposing a power supply importance evaluation method based on load importance and new energy uncertainty. While this is clear, it could be beneficial to briefly mention the potential benefits or applications of such a method, such as optimized power distribution, better utilization of new energy sources, and improved grid resilience.

3.       Methodology: The abstract briefly mentions the methodology involving an ideal solution method for load importance evaluation, the three-point estimation method for calculating power supply coefficient, and considering the differences of power source characteristics. To provide a more comprehensive understanding, you could include a concise explanation of how the proposed evaluation method addresses the uncertainties and challenges posed by new energy sources.

4.       Results: The abstract mentions that the importance of various power sources is calculated through numerical examples, but it does not provide any specific findings or results. To make the abstract more informative, consider including a brief mention of the key results obtained from the evaluation. For instance, highlight the effectiveness of the method in assessing the power supply capacity of different sources to important loads and its implications for power system planning or operation.

5.       Conclusion: Conclude the abstract with a sentence summarizing the main takeaway or significance of the research. This could be a statement about the potential impact of the proposed method on power system management, or the contribution it makes to the field of power systems with new energy integration.

Point 2: Introduction

1.      Clear Objective Statement: While the introduction hints at the research's objectives, it could benefit from a concise and explicit statement of the study's goals. This will provide readers with a clear understanding of what the paper aims to achieve, such as developing a comprehensive method to evaluate power supply importance, considering both load characteristics and new energy uncertainty.

2.       Literature Review: The literature review presented in the introduction is valuable and demonstrates that the topic has been researched from various perspectives. However, it might be helpful to summarize the gaps or limitations in the existing literature and how the proposed method addresses these gaps more explicitly. This will further emphasize the significance of the current research.

3.      Research Contribution: The introduction could be strengthened by explicitly stating the unique contribution of this research to the field. Emphasize how the proposed evaluation method, which considers both load characteristics and power source differences, adds to the existing body of knowledge and the potential impact it may have on the development of new energy power systems.

4.      Method Overview: While the introduction outlines the general approach of the proposed method, it could benefit from a more concise and summarized version of the key steps. This will help readers grasp the structure of the paper better and know what to expect in the subsequent sections.

Point 3: Load Importance Indicator Assessment Methodology

1.      Methodological Flow: While the methodology is well-explained, there could be additional subheadings or bullet points to break down the various steps and their sequence. This would make it easier for readers to grasp the overall flow of the load importance evaluation process.

2.      Relevance to the Research: Connect the load importance evaluation methodology to the broader context of the paper and its relevance to the "new power system" concept proposed in 2021. Explain how this methodology addresses the challenges posed by new energy sources and contributes to ensuring the stability and reliability of the power system.

Point 4: Power source importance assessment based on load importance and new energy 169

uncertainty

1.      Relationship to Load Importance: Establish a clear connection between the assessment of power source importance and the previously discussed load importance assessment. Explain how the load importance results are integrated with the power flow calculation to determine the comprehensive power supply coefficient and assess power source importance.

2.       Application and Interpretation: Discuss the practical implications of the power source importance assessment. How can this assessment aid in the management and decision-making of power systems with new energy integration? Provide some interpretations or insights from the results obtained through the ideal solution method.

Point 5: Example analysis

1.      Clarity of Data and Assumptions: Specify the sources of the historical wind speed and light intensity data used for wind farms and PV plants in 2012. Additionally, clarify any assumptions made during the analysis to ensure transparency.

2.      Interpretation of Results: Offer deeper insights and interpretation of the results obtained through the load importance assessment and power source importance assessment. Explain how these results can impact decision-making in the context of power system management and integration of new energy sources.

3.      Comparative Analysis: While discussing the influence of load importance on the power source importance assessment, provide a comparative analysis of the two methods used. Discuss the advantages and limitations of considering load importance versus using power supply capacity alone in evaluating the importance of power sources.

4.      Conclusion: End the example analysis with a concise summary of the key findings and their implications. Mention any future research directions or potential applications of the assessment methodologies.

5.      Please adjust font of Figure 6 to make it clearer. It is also similar to Figures 7 and 8

Point 6: Conclusion

1.      Specificity: While the conclusion broadly outlines the main findings, consider providing specific quantitative results or highlighting key numerical trends obtained from the analyses. Specific data points or comparative figures can add credibility to the findings and strengthen the conclusion.

2.      Implications and Applications: Expand on the implications of the research findings. Discuss how the results can impact power system management, grid coordination, and integration of new energy sources. Additionally, mention potential applications of the assessment methodologies in real-world scenarios.

3.      Limitations and Future Directions: Acknowledge any limitations or constraints of the study. Mention potential areas of improvement or future research directions that can build upon the current findings.

4.      Clear Statement of Contributions: Explicitly state the unique contributions of the paper in addressing current challenges in the power system domain. Emphasize how the research advances the existing knowledge and fills gaps in the literature.

Point 8: References

1.      Please check consistency of format reference (such as capital letter format in article title, italic format in journal title, etc.).

2.      Kindly ensure that the references are updated, utilizing sources no older than the past five years.
