Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper studies The circular economy transition in Australia: nuanced circular 2 intermediary accounts of mainstream green growth claims.

Line 387 The author may need to explore on the role of plastic recycling in Australia in term of  circular economy and  circular society

Author Response

Thank you for your comments. I have added two allusions to the references 53 and 54 which discuss plastics and circularity in Australia to line 387

Reviewer 2 Report

1- There is a break between some paragraphs in the introduction. Introductory Section should be edited.

2- There are English errors in the article. The article should be re-read and edited.

3- The journal should be written according to the spelling guide and there are too many indentations in the paragraphs.

4- There is a discussion, but the result should be written.

5- I think that giving the important points of the article in a table or figure will increase the interest in the article.

Thanks for your reading and comments

The introduction section is deliberately divided into subsections rather than being 'broken' - I have added a sentence to the first part to introduce these sections. Regarding spelling errors - please note that the spelling follows British English rules and the article has been checked again for some punctuation and spelling issues. In qualitative research, themes are reported and linked to literature and conceptual issues thus the results section is a discussion and results section. The final section entitled discussion is then similar to a conclusion in other research formats. I have not added a table or figure for main points but perhaps in future I will consider.

Reviewer 3 Report

-Since you have focused on the circular economy and waste management, you should discuss the policies implemented in your country for the same. Also, find out some effective policies that have been implemented in other countries and are similar to yours.

-Literature reviews should be followed by research gaps. Point out the gaps and clearly state the objectives.

-Find some data about it and present it in charts with discussions.

-Provide limitations for the interiews. What factors have you not considered, and why?

-In discussion section, the outcome of your study should be presented with a convergence of your results with previous research.

-Add conclusion section where important findings should be presented along with the future scope of the studies. What more amendments to the existing policies do you suggest for better waste management?

-Check for typing errors.

Author Response

Thanks for your comments. I have added a conclusion section and the discussion section as well as the results section include references already on the significance of conclusions and interview themes. This is usual in qualitative studies.

I have included a new section 1.5 which identifies the research objective (gap) relative to the literature to date.

Policies in Australia at a national and state level have been discussed at the beginning. The most successful policies for a just transition have been in Europe where Doughnut Economics and circular economy have been linked as in Amsterdam. These are discussed in this paper. I have referred again in the conclusion.

I have included a comment about the limitations of the small sample in the final conclusion section.
