Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This manuscript mainly considers the complicated combustion process of waste incinerator, with huge variables, extended inertia time and difficult to predict accurately the main steam parameters. The key problem that the parameters are difficult to be accurately searched for is overcome by using the Beetle Antennae Search algorithm optimization Support Vector Machine, so that established an accurate prediction model of the incinerator main steam parameters. The research topic is suitable for the submitted journal, but there are still some problems in the paper, and some improvements need to be made before the paper is accepted for publication.

(1) The writing of the introduction section needs to be improved in terms of wording and logic.

(2) Abbreviation, which should be stated the first time it appears. The first appearance of "BAS-SVM" is not explained.

(3) The authors mention the use of gray correlation analysis for variable selection and spearman for time delay estimation, but why these two methods were chosen is not detailed and should be elaborated.

(4) Some grammar and spelling errors need to be checked carefully, Such as in Section 4.1, the symbol "n" should be written in the formula editor.

(5) Letters that are not variables should be written in block letters, Such as in Formula (6).

(6) In the experimental part of the article, the specific structure and parameters of the model used in the results of this article need to be explained in detail.

(7) In general, it is lack of explanations and analysis for prediction results in the study, so more explanations is needed.

Paper title: Prediction of Main Steam Parameters of Waste Incinerators Based on BAS-SVM

Subject: sustainability- 2096563- peer-review report

Date: 21.12.2022

A brief summary   main parameters of steam

The paper presents a method accurate prediction of the main parameters of steam which can help the control system to reasonably analyze the combustion conditions and thus greatly improve the combustion efficiency in  waste incinerators. Prediction is based on BAS-SVM (Beetle Antennae Search-Support Vector Machine) method.

The paper is based on a properly conducted literature analysis. 32 items of contemporary world literature were used.

The overall quality of the manuscript is good. The manuscript contains good-quality contents and results. The results of the analysis can be used by designers and operators of  waste Incinerators

The topic of the manuscript is also interest to the readers of sustainability.

However, the submission contains several technical and editorial drawbacks, which according to my humble opinion, require slightly revision before the submitted manuscript can be considered as publishable. Some comments are given next.

Broad comments

Paper title - proposed title is misleading. The term main steam is used as a general term for steam feeding main turbines. I propose to use the phrase main parameters of steam

Introduction - the information contained introduces the content of the paper well.. Should be expanded on the purpose of the analysis carried out in the paper.

Basic Method Principle - information on steam parameters should be expanded, e.g. no information on the pressure of the steam produced.

Prediction of main steam parameters of waste incinerator based on Beetle Antennae Algorithm optimized support vector machine  - without remarks

Model Establishment and Result Analysis - Chapter 3.3 is entitled Model Establishment. Perhaps chapter 3.3 should be moved to chapter 4

Conclusions - chapters too small. The results of the analysis make it possible to expand and refine the guidelines for further research and conclusions
