Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript is a good paper which studies the characteristics of tourist preference clustering and the influence mechanism of 5A scenic spots in Jiangsu, which helps to analyze the development trend of tourist demand. The paper introduces the standard deviation ellipse and kernel density estimation from a new perspective of geospatial and temporal dynamics analysis to explore more deeply and accurately the clustering characteristics and trends of tourist preferences in 5A scenic spots, which contributes to the literature.

There are some observations for the authors which could improve their manuscript:

The literature review and the methodology are adequate, and the objective of the manuscript is clear, but I suggest improving the discussion section, I do not observe citations in this section, it seems that the comparison of the results with the literature needs to be expanded and cited. If the Manuscript introduces the standard deviation ellipse and kernel density estimation from a new perspective of geospatial and temporal dynamics analysis to explore more deeply and accurately the clustering characteristics and trends of tourist preferences in 5A scenic spots, the results obtained in the Manuscript should be compared with other methods that have been applied that are in the literature review.

The theoretical implications are understood in the conclusions but I suggest that the theoretical implications of the manuscript be explicitly mentioned.

Reviewer 2 Report

this paper has a very clear methodology, and the application of innovative methods for drawing conclusions. However, before publishing the paper, we suggest a few adjustments:

1. Figure 1 has a legend and scale in Chinese, adapted to English

2. It would be desirable for the considered period (2012-21) to add data on overnight stays in the region, and a table with visits to 5A scenic spots

3. In the very introduction, it would be good to put more emphasis on 5a attractions, and briefly explain the methodology based on which the Ministry determines the category

4. In the discussion, of course, the emphasis is on technology, but the factor of personal contact in the transfer of the emotions of the scenic spot is omitted, perhaps at least a brief review of the above

5. in the Discussion, more clearly connect the characteristics of tourism preferences that have the highest grade 5A, and which can be applied to those with lower grades as well

6. the introduction itself does not clearly state the goals (they exist, but should be emphasized) and the hypotheses that are tested by research

7. it would be desirable to simplify and shorten the title, in its current form it is difficult to understand
