Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This is an interesting paper.

I propose to the authors to mention in the Introduction some natural disasters with a serious impact on railway, eg. the floods in Thessaly, Greece in September 2023 (storm Daniel).

This paper has a lot of abbreviations. I encourage the authors to add a Table with all the abbreviations at the end of the paper (before the references) in order to help the readers.

I propose to the authors in their future work to implement the QRA methodology using BIM+GIS technology in a real project (case study) if possible.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The study is very well documented, with sufficient references.

However, Accident Scenarios Analysis could complete the study. Please mention if Accident Scenarios Analysis could be used in your study.

It would also be useful to introduce in the study the level-crossing areas as potential disaster elements, also the extreme weather condition factor.

Regarding the railway system, many disasters occur due to human errors and inadequate maintenance for both rail infrastructure as for the train wheels - please mention this dates also in your study with adequate references.

At section 3.1 . Overview of disaster risk assessment for railway - please add to the mentioned disasters also: level-crossing areas as potential disaster elements, also the extreme weather condition factor.
