Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The article may satisfy the research need of many scholar so it merits publication.

I would encourage authors to embark minor revisions before acceptance.

My main concerns regard:

(i) language usage, since shorter phrases in some cases may help.

(ii) a broader (and more internationally oriented) literature review helping authors outside the main technical issue of the study.

(iii) evidencing more clearly the originality and novelty of the contribution of this paper.

Thank you.

1- Some sentences are too long and meaningless, as lines 55-61.  These sentences should be edited.

2- In introduction section the literature review should be inserted. Mention if different were DEMs compared in any research before?

3- Mention the innovation of your research clearly in the manuscript.

4- A general study area map should be inserted, which shows the location of study samples in china.

5- How did you generate the relationship between the average slope and the resolution in each sample area (showed in Table 2)? It should be clarified.

6-English edit is recommended.

7- It would be very valuable if you could compare generated slopes from different DEMs in a real erosion modeling. Then your achievements would be better highlighted.

The figures need to increase the resolution, and the legend needs to be enlarged. The discussion section needs more attention and more support from the literature.
