Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I really like to e-leadership has been studied in the paper. I appreciate to the authors for using Delhi and Fuzzy set theory and AHP to carry out the research; I have a concern related to security in digital word and I do not see that part has been discussed. Leadership also helps to increase intention of employee IS behavior.  And recent study ( Almeida, M.C., Yoshikuni, A.C., Dwivedi, R. et al. Do Leadership Styles Influence Employee Information Systems Security Intention? A Study of the Banking Industry. Glob J Flex Syst Manag 23, 535–550 (2022). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40171-022-00320-1) . Please refer to this and hopefully even you can put in limitations of the research.
The following references would be helpful to understand the critical success factors for digitalization and would solid your grounding work;
·         This research also talks about critical success factors for digitalization (Goel, S., Dwivedi, R. & Sherry, A.M. Critical Factors for Successful Implementation of E-governance Programs: A Case Study of HUDA. Glob J Flex Syst Manag 13, 233–244 (2012). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40171-013-0021-1 )

The following research works were carried out in the Indian context and related to virtual context.
Another important point that seems missing is GOVERNANCE work and because E-Leadership can not be completed without IT governance related issues and many aspects related to that.
Therefore you can cite and refer the work and may add as limitation of the research.

·         Rigoni, E.H., Dwivedi, R. and Hoppen, N., 2010. IT Governance and Business--IT Strategic Alignment Commitment: A Study of Brazilian Firms. International Journal of Global Management Studies Professional2(1).

The research methodology is sound and I like the approach of combining AHP, Delhi and Fuzzy Set theory approach together.
Good Luck..

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear Authors,

I am pleased to review an original manuscript draft "E-leadership is Un(usual): Multi-criteria analysis to identify and analyse Critical Success Factors for the Transition from Leadership to E-Leadership". This is a brilliant idea, a timely topic, and an interesting approach. However, there is room for significant improvement. I serve my recommendations below:

1. (15-16) Sentences sound like a tautology, the first of two sentences seems redundant, please delete or rephrase.

2. Abstract: study purpose should be CLEARLY articulated in the abstract!

 3. (21-22)"Findings of this study facilitate the smooth transition 21 from leadership to e-leadership." But WHY this transition should really occur?

4. I have an impression that in this paper Leadership and E-leadership are divided like "black and white" (without any existence of shadows of grey and other colours too), however, in fact, they are overlapping and extending one another in the reality, are not they? Please clarify it in 3-4 sentences at the beginning of the introduction, it may raise questions.

5. (81) following outlining your aims in the abstract, please state them and explain them after the research questions.

6. (33-51) In general, the introduction is quite engaging, but I have the feeling, that it can be more vivid and informative. Notably, I would recommend briefly giving cross-sectional examples capturing the COVID-19 leadership "drama".  Thus, the most interesting fields are sports, tourism and education. I would recommend including:

Glebova, E., Zare, F., Desbordes, M. and Géczi, G., 2022. COVID-19 Sport Transformation: New Challenges and New Opportunities. Physical Culture and Sport. Studies and Research95(1), pp.54-67.

Corell-Almuzara, A., López-Belmonte, J., Marín-Marín, J.A. and Moreno-Guerrero, A.J., 2021. COVID-19 in the Field of Education: State of the Art. Sustainability13(10), p.5452.

7. (33) "The role of leadership is very significant, especially during the transition." this sentence must be accompanied by 1-3 citations, otherwise, the statement sounds bold, subjective and disproved.

8. What is a "One-on-One Survey"? It should be explicitly explained referring to the methodological literature.

9. Do you have the study protocol? Please include in the methods 2-3 studies with a similar approach/ design/ methods and justify your methodology.

10.  Compelling visualisation: comprehensive tables, graphics and interpretation, great job.

11. I would suggest dividing section 8 into sub-sections to easier navigate.

Reviewer 3 Report

Dear Authors,

Happy to review the article.

The article doesn’t address the context of sustainability. The article needs to improve methods and results section. It also needs to provide relevant references. Following are the detailed comments:

Line 11-14: Please revise the following sentence

“It is established that 11 leadership needs transition powered with digital technologies to tackle the shift from workplace 12 culture to remote work which is being practiced even after the pandemic to reduce the operational 13 cost and to improve flexibility”

Line 16: Is it one-on-one survey or one-on-one interview

Line 67: Need and here “social isolation, family to work conflict”

Line 89-98: Paragraph needs English editing

Line 100: systematic Literature Review (SLR) details are missing.

Figure 1: Please crop the image to show only India

Figure 2: It needs to contain CSF not KPI

Eq 2 and Eq 3: No reference provided

Table 2: No reference for the scales

Line 215: Provide reference for CEA

Methods section should also provide the details of consistency ratio

Figure 5: The category names are not aptly chosen. E-motivation and well being contains managing change and there is a category E-change management. Think of better names.

Table 4 and 5: It’s not clear neither the variables nor the fuzzy numbers

Eq 9 Eq 10: These abbreviations are not defined before.

Results section only shows the steps for the categories, need to provide details of individual CSF also.

Results section should also show the outcome of consistency ratio.

Line 429-430: ‘e-motivation and well-being is category of CSFs not CSFs itself

Line 455: KRA not defined

Line 460-464: Single line paragraph

Limitations of the study needs to be mentioned.

Line 478: There are only 21 CSFs and it mentions 25

There is no informed consent statement

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Reviewer 3 Report

Dear Authors,

I appreciate your incorporation of comments. Please look forward to incorporate following:

You need to provide the formula and numerical values of consistency ratios.

Further in text the one-to-one survey is replaced with primary survey but in figure 2 it's not updated.

Regards,
