Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear authors,

The aim of the article is to explore the mechanism by which workplace friendship influences employee brand ambassador behavior. To achieve this, the study investigates 208 front-line employees in two tourist attractions and builds a structural equation model including workplace friendship, employee well-being, employee helping behavior, and employee brand ambassador as variables.

In my opinion, the article is well structure and clearly shows the hypothesis, the methodology and the results. In addition, the discussion is based on the results and, also points out futures limitations. I would only suggest adding the equations of the estructural model in the methology section for a better undestandig.

Kind regards,

Reviewer.

Dear Authors,

I read with interest your paper "How does friendship motivate frontline employees to exhibit brand Ambassador behavior: The Important role of well-being and helping behavior", but it is unclear to me which journal it is addressed to. The invitation for review is from Sustainability, and the manuscript is with the header International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.

The article is well structured and respects the structure of a scientific paper, and I have only two minor observations:

1.      Change references to COVID-19 as a pandemic, not an epidemic.

2.      Complete the Methodology section with the period in which the research occurred (when were the questionnaires completed?).

The article precisely defines the purpose and scope of the planned research. “Focusing on the perspective of an organization’s employees, this study analyzes the influence of friendship among employees, mutual assistance, and personal well-being on brand ambassador behavior, which enriches the literature on factors influencing employee brand ambassador behaviour”.  Workplace friendships  have a positive impact on employee well-being. “When the friendship between employees reaches a high level, employees will help each other to deal with work problems,  and helping is likely to improve the well-being”.  “Organizational efforts to promote workplace friendships not only help employees improve their well-being, but also benefit the organization itself”. A methodology was developed, appropriate research methods and tools were selected and applied. The research results were presented and analysed in an interesting way. Interesting conclusions were shown. The presented results are characterized by scientific independence, conducive to solving key problems, presenting views and formulating conclusions. They contain practical values resulting from the conducted empirical research.

An interesting article should be published without changes.

Reviewer 4 Report

General considerations:

We believe the paper is within the broad scope of the journal, it brings empirical data on the antecedents of brand ambassador behavior in tourism setting.

The writing is adequate, the title, abstract, and main sections of the paper are consistent with data presented. The aims are clearly stated and the method appropriate. The analysis conducted is adequate. The conclusions are supported by the data presented.

We have only some minor suggestions that we believe the authors should address, before this paper is published, identified below with reference to the paper sections.

Introduction

Page 2, line 69-71, please explain, even if briefly, how job satisfaction relates/”hints” to workplace friendship.

Literature review

Page 3, line 122, “scholars have further explored of the factors”, I think the word “of” is to be eliminated for a correct sentence.

Measures

Page 6, line 275, “The questionnaire used in this study takes the form of a Likert scale, and the scale items are all developed from mature scales used in prior studies.” I believe this sentence is ambiguous, you used a questionnaire with various scales to measure your variables, I think you should re-write the sentence for the sake of clarity.

Page 7, lines 292-294 “ According to how they actually feel about these 292 statements, the participants chose the corresponding option, from 1 = strongly disagree to 7 = strongly agree.”, I think you mean that this measure is equal for each scale.

Preliminary analysis

Page 8, table 1, if all the respondents are front-line employees, as you said before, there is no need to put the same information on the table.
