Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The proposed manuscript deals with the carsharing mobility paradigm and its holistic analysis. This topic is actual; it represents the new and  growing sector of transport network services.

The novelty of the research refers  to the extraction of basic most characteristic parameters of this market, disclosing decision complexity and business motivating factors. This research is supported by large literature background with fresh enough citations.

Main results can be attributed to the selection of eight assessment metrics for examining the carsharing development (the market condition, business advantage, parking condition, electric vehicle deployment, self-serving configuration, vehicle reservation, vehicle maintenance, and pricing scheme).

This analysis contains the detailed enough discussion of basic parameters and specific regional factors. Diagrams and graphics are adequate and clear for perception. The text is clear for reading.

Several questions and remarks should be addressed to the authors.

Several questions and remarks should be addressed to the authors.

1.       As the carsharing represents one of modern types of transport network services, please, add some comparison with known metrics and trends being substantial in other popular transport networks. One pole here are traditional  transport networks, as  the Internet of vehicles (IoV) and unmanned drones delivery seem to be another one for possible comparisons.

2.       It would be interesting to see some discussion of prospects to use some computer methods for network computer control of carsharing systems. At least, aviation and  power grids already use some artificial intellect methods for distant control and monitoring; close solutions may be also useful for supporting network structure for carsharing.

3.        This remark is partially connected with two previous ones; discuss the prospects and the easiness to transform  chosen market assessment metrics for further computer data procession and operative control.

4.      The question appears, concerning the possible role of such two parameters as “average trip length” and the ratio ” the price of the car exploitation/the average salary” for different regions of the earth. Is it substantial or not?

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

the manuscript has several typos and some grammatical errors

I suggest to

1) revise the insertion of quotations in the text in accordance with the journal template

2) better emphasise the novelty of the research in the introduction, the limitations in the conclusion and specify whether the replicability of the concepts can be extended to different world contexts

3) insert more explanation to accompany figure 5 and 6

4) insert figure 9 as a table and not as a figure specifying the source

5) insert the sources of all images in the text

6) avoid inserting titles in the figures, preferring to insert them as captions

7) also underline the social and psycho-social aspects that increase or decrease the propensity to use car sharing in the world by inserting relevant bibliographic citations

8) Modify Figures 1 and 2, which are currently difficult to read.

9) insert all acronyms in expanded form when they are mentioned for the first time in the text

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The manuscript provides a clear and relevant investigation into the development of carsharing services across diverse global regions, which is crucial for advancing sustainable urban mobility.

The references cited in the manuscript showed a balance between recent publications within the last five years, reflecting the dynamic nature of the field, while also drawing from foundational works to provide comprehensive insights.

The inclusion of figures effectively complements the text, supporting in the visualization of data and enhancing understanding. However, Figure 9 on page 16 appears more like a table than a typical figure. I recommend reclassifying it as Table 1 with a corresponding table caption and revising its placement in the manuscript text on page 15. Additionally, it is suggested to relocate Figures 2 and 3 to immediately follow relevant paragraphs on page 5.

The conclusions drawn from the analysis of carsharing cases are consistent with the evidence presented, offering valuable insights into the varying dynamics of carsharing development across regions.

Overall, the manuscript offers a comprehensive examination of carsharing development worldwide, presenting valuable insights for stakeholders in the sustainable mobility sector.

Author Response

Thank you very much for taking the time to review this manuscript, titled “Carsharing worldwide: case studies on carsharing development in China, Europe, Japan, and the United States”. We sincerely appreciate your positive comments and constructive suggestions. We also agree that it would be more suitable to exhibit Figure 9 in the table form than the figure form as Table 1, as well as to adjust the positions of the Table 1 and Figures 2 and 3 to follow relevant paragraphs. Therefore, we have revised this manuscript in accordance with your suggestions. We believe these revisions indeed have enhanced the overall coherency of this revised manuscripts.

Sincerely thank you.
