Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1.  Line 11 to 16 in section 2.2. (Libya-4 site), a site-dependent semi-empirical bidirectional reflectance function (BRDF) is introduced. I am confused how to derive the BRDF model from SNPP VIIRS data. More details on how to building the BRDF model of Libya-4 site should be described.

2.  Same questions on how to use a simple BRDF model expressed as a linear relationship with solar zenith angle to mitigate the angle effect for the Dome C site. Figure 1 shows the only the relationship between reflectance and solar zenith angles. Why the view zenith angles were not considered.

In the manuscript, four approaches were introduced to assess the calibration performance of SNPP and NOAA20 VIIRS RSB. However the results of calibration performance (stabilities) are different when using these four approaches. My question is which results should be trusted? Or how to give users a comprehensive results based on the results of the four approaches.
