Diurnal Precipitation Features over Complex Terrains along the Yangtze River in China Based on Long-Term TRMM and GPM Radar Products
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
1. The authors should properly evaluate the accuracy of TRMM and GPM radar products in the Yangtze River Basin. The relevant research results of others can be cited for explanation.
2. Line 108-110: Why did the authors use 2014 data to replace the missing data of 2001 and 2009? It's confusing. The authors need to give a reasonable reason, otherwise, all the subsequent research is wrong.
3. L122: Liu [39] should be modified to Liu et al [39].

The Abstract is very difficult to follow. It should structured in way of explain about the main problem, what are the objectives of the study and what is the proposed method and what are the findings.
The introduction section is advisable not to have figure and table. There are also some other studies recently published, the authors refer to it. 10.3390/RS12091422, 10.1016/j.heliyon.2023.e15740 and 10.1007/s11269-023-03519-8.
This section should be revised thoroughly and improved. Should be structured in way of provide brief introduction, literature review, the current problems and the objectives of the study.
Methods: authors should provide equations to it will be easy to the reader to follow up.
“Diurnal precipitation features along the YR” : The authors should expand their explanation about rainfall events.
Please provide flowchart in the Methodology section so it will be clear to the reader.
The authors should provide tables to explain their findings.
I suggest the authors to split the Discussion and conclusion section to make it two sections.
“Nowadays, numerical simulations and reanalysis data such as ERA5 and CMORPH provide abundant precipitation data with improved spatial and temporal resolutions”, why the authors did not include this in their work.

This is an interesting manuscript that is well described and written. It comments on the diurnal precipitation features over complex large- and small-scale terrains along the Yangtze River. Data analysis and results are presented. Discussion is also well presented. I would, however, like to ask the authors to include a few more citation papers from the Remote Sensing journal.
