Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The paper "Research on SAR Active Anti-Jamming Imaging Based on Joint Random Agility of Inter-pulse Multi-Parameters in the Presence of Active Deception" proposes a multi-parameter agile SAR imaging scheme based on traditional frequency domain imaging algorithms. This scheme can handle joint agility of pulse width, chirp rate polarity, carrier frequency, and PRI, with relatively low computational complexity, making it feasible for engineering implementation. By inverting SAR images, the echoes with multi-parameter joint agility are obtained, and active deceptive interference signals are added for processing. The interference-suppressed imaging results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Furthermore, simulation results of point targets with multiple parameters under the proposed processing algorithm show that the peak side lobe ratio (PSLR) and integrated side lobe ratio (ISLR) are improved by 12 dB and 10 dB, respectively, compared to the traditional fixed waveform scheme.

The paper is well-organized and clearly explains the proposed method and its theoretical underpinnings. The authors thoroughly review related work in the field and present experimental results that demonstrate the effectiveness of their approach.

About the structure of the paper, I suggest the authors to develop certain points:

-        Discussion - Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the paper. Consider aspects such as clarity of presentation, robustness of experiments, and the significance of results. Discuss any assumptions made by the authors, potential biases, or areas where further research is needed.

-        Conclusion - Summarize the overall impact of the paper. Do the authors successfully address the problem they set out to solve? Reflect on the potential implications of their findings for future research or practical applications in UAV-based geo-localization.

-        Future Work - Suggest areas for future research that could build on the findings of the paper. This might include improvements in accuracy, efficiency, or applicability to different types of environments.

Based on the above, it is recommended that the authors review the entire document, considering the suggestions mentioned above as well as any others that other reviewers may propose.

All the best.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This manuscript focuses on the SAR active anti-jamming imaging based on joint random agility of inter-pulse multi-parameters in the presence of active deception. Anti-jamming imaging is affected by many factors. This paper tries to improve the effect, but there are still many problems in the expression and experiments. The comments are as follows:

(1) The structure

The structure is disorganized and manuscript is poorly readable. There are quite errors in the text. In particular, there are many problems in the section 4 and 5, such as the lack of title, unclear content, no meaning explanation of abbreviations, no reference to the chart in the body, no reference to the method and so on.

(2) The experimental part

a. The pulse width agile parameter diagram in figure 14 does not match the settings in the table 2. Should the ordinate be 2-6?

b. Is “agile of all” in Figure 17 the approach proposed in this paper? If so, I propose to change it to the “proposed method”. If not, what it is.

c. Table 3 is not mentioned in the text, and the comparison method used is not referenced.

d. Line 496, what is the FA-LFM? There are many other similar problems, please check carefully.

e. The second-order entropy, average gradient, and contrast are suddenly appearing in Table 6-8.

f. Section 5.1 seems superfluous and useless for experimental analysis

(3) others.

a. Lines 144-166 require a title

b. The parameters in figure1 are not explained clearly

c. Line 154, On the left side of the equation, should be on the right side

d. The text should be rechecked for correctness, Such as error in the reference symbol. And the language needs to be polished.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

I think there are still some issues need further revision

1.      The format of the references in the introduction is irregular, although this is not a very serious problem.

2.      The parameters in figure1 and figure3 are still not explained clearly, such as δ

3.      Why is there no (RD+ proposed method, Agile Signals) in Table 3 and Table 4.

4.      It seems the 5.1 Principle of SAR Deception Jamming is not used in Section 5.2, As the model of signal, I think it is more appropriate to put it in Chapter 2.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

In this paper, the authors discuss the anti-active interference imaging of SAR based on 2 joint random agility of inter-pulse multi-parameters. In general, the work in this paper is worthy publication. However, this paper needs improvements.

1. In introduction, the authors review the related work. However, the review is not sufficient. The authors should focus on the disadvantages of various methods.

2. In Eq.(1), the symbols should be firstly explained. The authors should carefully proofread the whole paper to avoid similar issues.

3. In Eq. (5), the interpolation is used. In practice, the truncated interpolation is used. The authors should discuss the influence of interpolation error on imagery.

4. The quantitative parameters in the paper entitled ‘LBF-Based CS Algorithm for Multireceiver SAS ‘ in IEEE GRSL such as contrast and entropy should be used to evaluate the performance.

5. The English in this paper should be improved.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This manuscript shows that the authors have achieved some results in the field of SAR anti-interference research. However, the validation method of this manuscript is unreasonable and contains many mistakes, which do not meet the standards for paper publication. The manuscript has the following issues.

1) The experimental verification is unreasonable and cannot fully reflect the innovation of the proposed method. Firstly, the scope specified in the title of the paper is “anti-active interference”, but only deception interference simulation experiment is conducted. For barrage interference such as radio frequency noise interference and noise convolutional interference, inter-pulse parameter agility may not be effective. Secondly, the innovation point (1) mentioned in the introduction has not been validated: the authors stated that the proposed method reduces the complexity of the compensation method due to the use of non-search method. However, in the experimental section, the proposed method was not compared with compensation methods that require searching. In addition, the proposed compensation method is performed in the time domain, so it is not a “frequency domain compensation algorithm”.

2) The physical meaning of any variable or symbol in almost all formulas has not been explained. This is extremely non-standard and not what a normal academic paper should look like.

3) There are many errors or inconsistencies in the formulas. For example, in formula (1), the variable “η” on the left has a subscript “n”, but the variable “η” on the right has no subscript “n”; the variable on the left in formula (1) is “τ”, but the variable on the right is “t”; the variable “Tp” in formula (11) has a superscript “i”, while the variable “Tp” in formula (1) does not have a superscript “i”; the superscript of variable “Kr” in formula (11) is “i”, while the superscript of variable “Kr” in formula (1) is “n”. The carrier frequency “fc” is included in formula (2), but it is not included in formula (3). Please note that range compression cannot remove the azimuth phase of the echo signal. The phase in formula (15) should be positive because the phase in formula (3) is negative, and only the opposite phase can compensate for the phase deviation caused by frequency agility.

4) There are still many errors in details in the manuscript that indicate that the authors did not write the paper seriously. For example, the first letter “E” in the title of Section 5 was omitted. In Figure 1, the y-axis should be a quantified variable, such as frequency, rather than the “transmitting signal”. In Figure 22, it is evident that the ships in subgraphs (d) and (e) are not the same as the ships in the first three subgraphs, therefore they are not comparable.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear authors:

Your article introduces a solution for a multi-parameter agile SAR imaging scheme based on traditional frequency domain imaging algorithms. It is well-structured, but there are some questions I can not answer after reading it.

- How can anti-active interference imaging techniques in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) benefit from the use of joint random agility of inter-pulse multi-parameters?

- What are the advantages of incorporating random agility in SAR imaging systems to reduce active interference and improve image quality?

- How can researchers optimize the design of SAR systems to effectively utilize joint random agility of inter-pulse multi-parameters for anti-interference imaging?

- What challenges or limitations may arise when implementing anti-active interference imaging using SAR with joint random agility of inter-pulse multi-parameters, and how can these challenges be addressed?

- What are the potential applications of anti-active interference imaging techniques in SAR with joint random agility of inter-pulse multi-parameters in real-world scenarios, such as surveillance, reconnaissance, and disaster response?

Based on the above, it is recommended that the authors review the entire document, considering the suggestions mentioned above as well as any others that other reviewers may propose.

All the best.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This paper proposes an agile SAR imaging method based on traditional frequency domain imaging algorithms with several parameters. The analyses of the method are very detailed and clear. There are some small comments:

1. L78-80: No reference in this sentence but the next one. I suggest listing the reference in this sentence.

2. I did not find explanations of the letters in some equations, such as Equations (1) to (3).
