Performance Evaluation of LMI Based on Low-Frequency Three-Dimensional Total Lightning Flash Location System
[Summary]
The authors evaluated LMI with ground-based LFEDA. After removing sistematic biases, the error in time and distance decreased.
[Broad Comment]
The presentation is fine and I have only some minor coments as below.
[Specific Comments]
Line 63-64
The word "angular adjacencies" has apperaed before (Line 56) so you can use "LFEDA" here.
Line 109-110
Does the GDLLS detect lightning in 2D (horizontal) location?
And why do you mention the GDLLS? Is it to show the performance of LFEDA?
Line 134 "MacGorman et al. [20]"
Is it "Bruning et al. [20] according t Line 513"?
Figure 5
It may better to highlight the line of 25km in spatial threshold.
Table 1
The word "August 7, 2019," in the body text should be used in the caption of the table, too.
In conclusion, it is better to include future work plan, if you have.
Comments on the Quality of English LanguageThe quality of English is fine.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsReview of Performance Evaluation of LMI Based on Low-Frequency Three-Dimensional
Total Lightning Flash Location System
by
Mengjin Zou, Yang Zhang, Yanfeng Fan, Jingxuan Wang, and Huiyi Zhang
General Comments:
The restriction of only allowing a one flash to one flash matching may be hurting their results. If two or more flashes from one system match (using their criteria) one flash from the other system, both flashes from the first system should be counted as a match. The authors could use some help with English grammar.
Specific Issues:
Lines 36-43: You should mention and reference the new EUMETSAT Lightning Imager (LI) on the MTG.
Lines 55-56: You need a reference to the LFEDA.
Lines 80-87: You should reference (doi.org/10.1029/2019JD031900 and doi.org/10.1029/2006JD007787) as very similar definitions to the events and group defined here for LMI. There is no problem using your/their definitions of events and group, but you should reference the originals upon which your definitions are based.
Lines 89-90: Is this the first publication with a description of the LFEDA system? If not, you need to put a reference to the first published description of the LFEDA system here.
Line 108: The “u” in “us” should be the micro symbol, not the letter “u”.
Lines 109-110: Please add a reference for the GDLLS.
Lines 112-113: You should put a reference for the work that shows the results of the artificially triggered lightning experiments.
Line 134: Define LMA. Most people know what it is, but some readers might not.
Line 338: You should also plot the time and distance offsets as a function of the location. The biases may have a lat/lon bias.
Lines 4380-436: You should also plot the DE as a function of lat/lon as your DE may have a locational bias.
Comments on the Quality of English Language
The English is most decent. There is room, however, for some English improvement.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThis paper is devoted for Fengyun 4A Lightning Mapping Imager data analysis. Authors present the approach for the detection capability improvement. Low-Frequency Electrical Detection Array (LFEDA) data are used for verification of lightning positioning and timing. The work can be published after minor revision.

Figure 2. Quality could be improved for better presentation. Probably dots should be bigger
Stylistic correction are recommended:
Lines 53-54 “there is a certain degree of uncertainty”
77-78 “The data products provided by LMI include both 'events' and 'groups', providing information on time”
79- 80 “Where 'events' are the pixel units illuminated by lightning on the CCD.”
Also, I recommend “nighttime and daytime” or “day and night” respectively through the whole paper.
