Research on Temporal and Spatial Distribution Pattern of the Night-Time Economy Supported by Multi-Source Data—A Case Study of Xiamen City, Fujian Province, China

This paper studies the spatial-temporal distribution pattern of night economy in Xiamen with the theme of urban night economy. With the support of multi-source data, taking weekdays and holidays as the comparison, different time stages as the scale, the point space and flow space clustering algorithm are used to identifies and analyzes the night activity agglomeration area and interaction area. Based on multi-source data, a system framework for identifies night service facilities is constructed to further analyzes the impact of night service facilities on night activities. At the same time, the relationship between the distribution of night lighting facilities and the supply and demand of night activities is analyzed. The idea of this paper is clear and novel. Using multi-source data to study night economy by means of geographic information technology can reduce the cost of field research such as questionnaire survey, which is enlightening for related research. At the same time, the article has certain defects and needs to be modified, as follows:

(1) The abstract part should be more concise to point out the purpose and conclusion of this study.

(2) The introduction part needs to summarize the application and limitations of the current research on night economic methods.

(3) The results were not compared with the pictures because the pictures were not clear enough.

(4) '4.1 Identification and Analysis of Night Activity Agglomeration Areas 'section, when describing the spatial distribution, it will be more perfect to analyze from the perspectives of weekdays and holidays, and at the same time reflect their differences.

(5) The discussion part is too simple, to combine the results to discuss, can’t simply discuss the limitations of the study.

(6) The chart in the article is not detailed enough, and it needs to be modified.

(7) The article should pay attention to careful examination, improve the level of English at the same time to pay attention to whether the Chinese pinyin is correct.

The idea underlying the work is very nice, the article is less, because it needs some revisions before acceptance.

The operational definitions need some more details, or a technical appendix at the end of the study.

Literature review can be improved substantially, both from the technical perspective and from the substantial point of view. More experiences and applications all around the world should be cited, or clarifications about the novelty of the approach should be provided.

The relevance of the study area for a broader readership should be also pointed out.

The originality of the present study is relatively understated in the paper, and I urge authors to elaborate more on this point.

Suggestions for future research are mandatory in this kind of experimental papers. I suggest to insert a bit more comments on this issue at the end of the discussion section.

This paper seems to fill a research gap. There are actually a lot of papers on night time lights and economy. But indeed it seems that there are not many on night-time economy.

However, this paper seems to have been put together in a hurry and it is lacking clarity, for me particularly on the radiance night-time light part.

Example: type of paper is not selected

Figures are unreadable, methods are not well described, results are not well presented.

The radiance maps are not given and not set in context.

The radiance method is not described but only some papers are referenced.

There is a paper already on the subject, that is not cited:

There is a tremendous amount of references, many of them seem irrelevant and redundant to me. Please check yourself to shrink to a normal amount of citations for an article.

Please improve figures, improve clarity of method description and then resubmit.

This paper uses models and mathematical statistics to describe the night economy, which is a worthy study. The author has made careful improvements to the paper and made reasonable replies to the opinions of the review experts. I suggest admission after minor revision.

(1) It is suggested to update some new references to better express the current research status.

(2) Please further express the role of Figure 5-8 in the article. How is this reflected in the experimental results?
