Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The study used the GBD database for secondary data to analyze the nutritional status of children worldwide.

1.     The research analysis mentioned that the number of malnutrition cases in various countries has dropped by 23.5% from 2010 to 2019, and observations and discussions were conducted for different countries, but there was no discussion on the corresponding policies for malnutrition in various countries, nor did it analyze malnutrition. The reason for the drop in cases? It is recommended that countries should increase their policies and responses to child malnutrition, and propose and analyze the main reasons for the decline in malnutrition cases, as well as what are the best policies and methods, and should be discussed in depth to increase the value of research.

2.     The discussion and recommendations of the research results are inconsistent with the research purpose. The research purpose provides a basis for implementing nutrition-related policies. However, the research results are not discussed for relevant policies, nor are they discussed and sorted out for each country. It is suggested that the research results should be consistent with the research purposes.

3.     The research introduction only addresses the symptoms and effects of malnutrition, as well as diseases caused by different nutrient deficiencies, but does not discuss other social issues derived from malnutrition. The research motivation is weak, and it is advisable to strengthen the research motivation and why it is used Motivational factors for secondary data analysis to increase readers' understanding of the main reasons for selecting secondary data analysis.

4.     The study used secondary data for analysis, but did not see the contribution of the research using secondary data analysis in the research, did not discuss the lack of secondary data and what has not been explored? The description should be strengthened.

5.     This study used secondary data for research analysis, however, the relevant definitions and lack of results for malnutrition in the database have not been discussed. It is recommended to define and describe what the determinants of malnutrition discussed in this study.

Reviewer 2 Report

It is a very relevant toping today and the authors made a good job organizing this info in clusters. I have some recommendations to improve the interest of this manuscript:

Add the aim in the abstract , it is not clear

Introduction

Line 38 missing a reference for this

“ In 2019, 161,847,936 children under five years of age suffer from ...”

Discussion

you are repeating results and not discussing them

why did the deficiencies decline?

and what is the impact of the main nutritional deficiencies found?
