A Preliminary Single-Centre Study on the Risk Factors Associated with Persistent Feeding Disorders in Children
Abstract
:1. Introduction
2. Materials and Methods
- To check whether the distribution of the variable comes from the normal distribution (assumption required to conduct the Student’s t-test), the Shapiro–Wilk test was used.
- To compare continuous variables in two groups, the following were used:
- Student’s t-test (with Welch’s correction) for two independent samples, when the assumption of normal distribution was met in the groups or the sample size was ≥30;
- Two-sided nonparametric Mann–Whitney U test, otherwise.
- To compare nominal variables in two groups, the following were used:
- Asymptotic chi-square test (with Yates’s correction) in a situation where the expected value of cells are 5 or greater;
- Fisher’s exact test, when the assumptions of the asymptotic chi-square test are not met.
- To compare ordinal variables in two groups, the Cochran–Armitage test for trend was used.
