Conflict without an Apparent Cause
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
This paper presents an interesting idea regarding the endogenous emergence of conflict between two players.
I'm not sure about the interest to the readers: The number of citations used is low (12) and it doesn't seem to be a very active area of research. It's possible that this is a very interesting area that just hasn't been sufficiently explored yet, but if this is the case the authors haven't put forward a strong case for why it will be interesting even if others haven't looked at the issue in much depth. With that in mind I suggest that the the Introduction be expanded to let the reader know why this is an interesting issue to address.
On the first page (line 35) the authors use the term 'stable', this might not be the correct term for a dynamic that can spontaneously generate a break out of conflict.
I've checked "scientific soundness" as "High" though I haven't had the time to go through the large number of calculations although the several that I did check are accurate.
