Round  1

Reviewer 1 Report

With minor English editing and improvement of the Introduction the paper can be published.

Author Response

Response to Reviewer 1 Comments

Point 1: With minor English editing and improvement of the Introduction the paper can be published.

Response 1: We thank the referee for useful comments and suggestions to improve the presentation of this paper. The language of this manuscript has been edited by a native English speaking colleague.

Reviewer 2 Report

This manuscript contains the interesting matter. I recommend the publication after revision as following:

1.      The originality of this work is using Ag foam. However, this material is not develop by authors. I think that the following title is more suitable. “Comparative study between pristine Ag and Ag foam for electrochemical synthesis of syngas with carbon dioxide and water”

2.      Fig. 4, Fig, 6: Since it will be comparative study, authors should unify abscissa and ordinate.

3.      L431: J -> J.

4.      L467: appl. -> Appl.

Reviewer 3 Report

Yan et al. reported that Ag form effectively reduced CO2 and synthesized syngas.

The experimental and discussion were well performed.

I have only one minor comment. There are several papers about CO2 reduction by Ag. Thus, the authors should compare the activity and selectivity of their Ag form and exiting Ag catalysts.

Table 3

A comparison of the activity and selectivity achieved with these Ag electrocatalysts with previous references is provided in Table 3. It demonstrated that the performance of Ag foam have a superior activity and comparable selectivity of CO production to similar reported materials.
