Reviewer 2 Report

After reviewing the manuscript "The FBA motif-containing protein NpFBA1 causes leaf curling 2 and reduces resistance to black shank disease in tobacco", I have only small comments to the authors. The manuscript is well written and data presented are very interesting. Authors characterized FBA1 from Nicotiana plumbaginifolia and showed how it is modulated by SA and MeJA and during pathogen infection.

Comments

The majority of proteins/enzymes are cited in the text only by theirs acronyms. I suggest to use the complete name of the protein the first time it is cited in the text.

At line 197, figure 1 should be cited before the next sentence.

At Figure 1 C, please correct the word "leaves".

Lines 221/222. The sentence is too strong. The high levels of FBA1 mRNA detected in the leaves aren't enough to indicate that it has a key role in the leaf development.

Line 265: what do the authors mean with "more mature"?
