Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The methodology is confusing. The results of the statistical analyses are missing in the figures. Different fertilizers and cultivars were evaluated during the experiment (2018 urea, 2019 AN, 2020 urea.......2018 two cultivars, 2019 two cultivars, 2020 four cultivars). But the main problem can be found in the aim of the paper.

1- Please move lines 121-136 from M&M to the Introduction line 109.
2- Line 139: Please add the longitude and latitude of the field trial locations.
3- Line 144: If it is possible, please add the known average yield data of your wheat cultivars in the text.
4- Lines 237-272: Please move this part from M&M to the beginning of Results (current line: 274).
5- Please change the format of figures 3, 5 and 9 to 2D column graphs with numbers indicating in Y-axis.

6- Please calculate the correlation of yield and biomass between the years and treatments and discuss it in the manuscript appropriately.

7- Some English language corrections need to be done such as:

Line 463: The share of influence of each experimental factor on yield
and biomass for the four different wheat varieties examined in 2020 is shown in Figure 7.

Line 475: Almost all cultivars were only responsive to fall N application in terms of grain yield and biomass, except for Pobeda, which was also responsive to spring N treatment (Figure 8).

Line 484: confirmed in previous study [37].

8- Line 524: Regarding the citations in the text, would it be better to write: ‘Alcoz et al. [38] reported’. Please check with the reference formatting of the Journal.
