Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This is a major very well written paper, extremely interesting, describing what the Global Wheat Initiative is doing, through collaborative research, to ensure wheat production to meet world demand. It has a wealth of very interesting data and lists on-going key alliances, challenges and achievements. It can be published as it is, without any change.

The only suggestion I can make is to explicitly list the major issues and challenges facing the Initiative, itself in their day-to-day operation.

Author Response

We thank this reviewer for the positive comments and support.  Although the reviewer did not request any changes, the suggestion was made to list the challenges in the day-to-day operation of the Wheat Initiative.  While this might be useful, we are concern that it would detract from the main theme of the paper.  The Wheat Initiative does produce a quarterly Newsletter that is available through our website and this may address the reviewers suggestion.

Reviewer 2 Report

I do not have major comments to amke to the paper. I made a couple of minor comments visible on the attachemnt.

Author Response

The reviewer has suggested two changes; deleting "disease" from the list of keywords and spelling Ae. tauschii in full and in italics.  Both changes have been made in the revised version.
