On Page 10  following sentence is to be checked (not complete ) : ". Comparison of transcript levels of genes involved in GA, starch metabolism, and meiosis revealed that these genes (e.g., OsGA20ox4, OsGA2ox5, OsGA2ox6, OsBZR1, OsAGPL1, OsAGPL2, OsMSH5, OsDMC1A, and OsDMC1B) between WFYT025 and the parents..."

Dear authors,

This work combined two approaches, RNA seq and QTL mapping of a RIL population, to identify candidate genes regulating heterosis in rice. This is a straightforward strategy. I think it provides valuable information for scientists who study the physiology of grain filling rather than the genetic mechanism of heterosis. In the structure of this manuscript, some figures and tables provide the same information; there is not a focal point because of too many figures. I strongly suggest the authors change the title without heterosis. Two things the authors should clarify: the generation of the RIL population in this study, and the reason to focus on 1 DPA and 10 DPA. English editing is required, especially in the Materials and Methods. Other details are mentioned directly in the PDF file.

The manuscript is interesting. A lot of work was done and many results were analysed. Much data is also included in the supplementary materials. The introduction and discussion contain a lot of information - prepared reliably.

General comments.

  1. Some fragments of the manuscript require linguistic correction.
  2. The quality of the figures is poor, descriptions are very small and unreadable.
  3. Some captions for figures and tables need improvement, abbreviations in captions and figures should be explained.

Detailed comments are marked on the attached manuscript.

Dear authors,

Thanks for your revision, and this manuscript is quite improved. I'm sure the results in this work are most valuable to those scientists who share the same interest as you. Good luck with the publication.
