Dear Editors,

The authors are deeply grateful for the efforts of the reviewers. Following is a response to their kind suggestions:

Reviewer 1:

This reviewer asked to us to improve some parts of methods and the English usage in some paragraphs, offering us several suggestions to do so in the pdf version. We have accepted all these suggestions, because we think that all of them are very suitable and the MS stay more clear and precise. We attach the version with the marked changes so that the reviewer can read them.

Yours Sincerely,

Estrella M. Hernández-Suárez

Reviewer 2 Report

Review of the manuscript: "Economic impact of Oligonychus perseae Tutle, Baker and Abbatiello (Acari: Tetranychidae) in Spanish avocado crops".

Oligonychus perseae is a major pest of avocado causing defoliation and decrease of yield, so research concerning harmfulness and management of this pest are great of value.

The manuscript is overall well-written, well-structured and clear. I think that the interpretations of the data to reach conclusions are fine. However, I have a few comments listed below:

1.     In Table 1: please unify the month numbering

2.     Line 286: should be ‘Differences…’.

3.     Figure 1 and 2: If the exact date with the year of the observation is entered on the x-axis, there is no need to enter the year at the top of each figure.

4.     Please improve captions of Figure 1 and 2. It should be: The population dynamics of Persea mite on avocado trees in Malaga (or Tenerife) subjected to different treatments in 2011-2015 (or 2011-2013).

5.      Please improve captions of Tables 6, 7 and 8. It is not necessary to mention all data that are presented in tables.

6.      The whole Discussion must be improved. Right now this part is more like Results than Discussion. The results should be more insightful discussed with literature data. Please do not refer again to tables and figures.

Dear Editors,

Reviewer 2:

This reviewer has stated that Oligonychus perseae is a major pest of avocado causing defoliation and decrease of yield, so research concerning harmfulness and management of this pest are great of value. Besides, he/she says that the manuscript is overall well-written, well-structured and clear. We think that the interpretations of the data to reach conclusions are fine.

However, a few comments are listed:

  1. In Table 1: please unify the month numbering

    Done!

  1. Line 286: should be ‘Differences…’.

    Done!

  1. Figure 1 and 2: If the exact date with the year of the observation is entered on the x-axis, there is no need to enter the year at the top of each figure.

Ok, the year at the top of figures 1 and 2 has been deleted!

  1. Please improve captions of Figure 1 and 2. It should be: The population dynamics of Persea mite on avocado trees in Malaga (or Tenerife) subjected to different treatments in 2011-2015 (or 2011-2013).

Ok, done!

  1. Please improve captions of Tables 6, 7 and 8. It is not necessary to mention all data that are presented in tables.

    Ok, done!

  1. The whole Discussion must be improved. Right now this part is more like Results than Discussion. The results should be more insightful discussed with literature data. Please do not refer again to tables and figures.

Accordingly, we have revised the Discussion and have included some new references for a better explanation. However, there are few references on the concrete topic that we have faced. In the attach version reviewer 2 can see these changes.

Sincerely,

Estrella Hernández-Suárez

Round 2

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript entilted "Economic impact of Oligonychus perseae Tuttle, Baker and Abbatiello (Acari: Tetranychidae) in Spanish avocado crops" was corrected according to the reviewer's instructions. However I have still one doubt: if the Authors changed the dates (terms of observations) in the tables and in the description of the results, so they should also made the correction of these dates in the discussion.
