Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Manuscript entitled “Distribution of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae Pathotypes in Basmati Growing Areas of Jammu and Kashmir, India” submitted buy Tabasia et al, is of significance in the specific field of research. Work has been performed well and presented in accurate way.

Introduction section has been written in perfect way all the information required to supplement the study has been mentioned with proper references, authors should check this section for grammar improvements.

Methodology

All the information required is available in this section; also scientific style of methodology section is fine. I have comments regarding typing and grammatical check of this section.

Results and discussion

Presentation of finding in the result section and their interpretation in the discussion has been done very well with proper supporting references.

References are fine these include new to old references,

I have suggestion if authors add few more new references in the supporting evidenced of results.

Overall manuscript can be accepted after minor grammatical and typing improvements

Line 473-474: Can you please rewrite this sentence it is not clear what you are trying to say

Line 522-528: 16S sequencing cannot be used to infer evolutionary history, it can be used for identification of isolates, but its not even great at doing that. Either remove the evolutionary history context or do analysis which will allow for evolutionary evaluation

Reviewer 3 Report

This manuscript deals with distribution of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae pathotypes in basmati growing areas of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Some basic weaknesses are detected in the manuscript as below:

Comment #1: We advise that you should add pictures of BLB of rice, Xoo isolated strains colony and inoculated diseased leaves in the manuscript.

Comment #2: The Latin scientific names of strains on phylogenetic trees need to be italicized.

Comment #3: We advise that you should add another gene sequence to conduct molecular identification of Xoo and construct phylogenetic tree.

Comment #4: Present the final conclusion and practical suggestions in the end of abstract part.

Comment #5: Research innovation is not explicitly stated.

Comment #6: In the end of abstract and conclusion parts you must highlight the practical suggestions of your study.

Author Response

Dear Sir,

Add the BLB pics, modify the phylogenetic tree, and modify the abstract and conclusion.
