General comments
This study used the Mann–Kendall and Pettitt tests to analyze the precipitation variability in Cameroon,it explore there were difference variation in four division region of Cameroon. However, the its formation mechanism is not analyzed, I recommend publication of the paper in Atmosphere after revision.
Specific comments,
L.56-57 in this sentence, ‘this study is based on the series that include the two recent decades (2000 and 2010), which is not the case with previous studies.’ How long is the series?
Topographic map shall be provided in figure 1.
What is CV in Table 1?
In this study, what are the dry season and wet season respectively? Wet season and dry season?
The conclusion is too simple.
What are the differences between the conclusions of this paper and those of previous studies?
L. 385-388 This paper reveals the spatial and temporal distribution of the precipitation over the years in Camorone, West Africa, but needs to further analyze its formation mechanism, such as why is the decreases observed for the northern part of Cameroon regions are between –5.4% (Adamaoua) and –7.4% (Far North). Those of the western part of Cameroon regions oscillate between –7.5% (South-West) and –12.5% (West). The southern part of Cameroon regions recorded decreases varying between –4.3% (East) and –5.9% (Center).

The author should consider the following comments and revise the manuscript accordingly:
1. Introduction:
Line 36-43: There is a disconnect in the flow of thoughts/information from the previous sentence (34-36). The author may have to revise these lines and provide some clarity and flow of information
Line 44-46: " In sub-Saharan Africa, works ........ and ruptures detection in the rainfall data." Here, it is important for the author to back these statements clearly with example literature .
Line 46: " The obtained results confirm in West Africa's .......". It is not clear what results the author is referring to. Some clarity on it is important.
In line 52, 66 and elsewhere in the manuscript, the author uses this phrase: "...the evolution of rainfall...." . I find that inappropriate because rainfall evolution is not same as rainfall variability. The author may have to replace that with an appropriate phrase.
2. Materials and Methods
Study area: The author provided the map of Cameroon showing the ten regions. The author further grouped the ten regions into 3 distinct zones. Why and how these 3 distinct zones were arrived at is not explicitly provided. It is important the author describes the zonation with scientific reasons for the grouping. The author briefly provided a skeletal info on that in line 145-150. This should be brought to the study area section with details as requested.
Analysis: The author categorized the data into annual and seasons. Why and how these groupings were done is not explicitly explained.
Table 1 and 2 provide statistical properties of the annual and seasonal rainfall for the regions. This information is not necessary and can be taken out or put as supplementary info.
3. Results and Discussion
I would suggest that the author re-structure the results and discussion section into two distinct sections as follows:
Results: Here, provide and describe all the results obtained
Discussions: Interpret or explain the implications of the results. Also explicitly argue out the results in context with literature.
This will make the work easy to follow and outstanding.
