Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Authors,

Please see the section-wise comments below on your research article with the following details.

Manuscript title: Effects of climate change on water quality in Jucar River Basin (Spain) for urban water supply

Manuscript Number: water-1335416

Journal Submitted: Water

Specific Comments:

Title: The title must be revised as the ending part is (for urban supply) does not mean anything.

Abstract:

More of the background and methodology and almost no mention of results and conclusions; please revise it. The abstract should clearly summarise your main results and findings.

Introduction:

The introduction is clear on what is already known about this topic. The authors need to cite more references in the starting paragraphs.
Please rephrase the research question, and the aims should be clearly outlined.
The research question is justified; however, you need to provide more background information.

Materials and Methods:

Please move the section “Study area” to the MMs. Also, it would be best if you cut it short as it is too long. Just keep the most relevant information.

Table1. Please consider moving this to the appendix.

Figure 3 is excellent.

Would you please describe a bit about the statistical treatment and analysis?

The study design is appropriate to answer the aims and the study methods valid and reliable. I doubt if there are enough details in order to replicate this study.
Results and Discussion:

Results:

The results are stated clearly and supported by good-quality figures and tables. The data descriptions are appropriate and clear.

Discussion:

Although the discussions are explaining each aspect of the research and all the scenarios used during this study, I feel that there is a shortage of fitting citations. Please consider this issue and revise it accordingly. Please avoid being over-interpretive here.
Figures and Tables:

Figure 1. Please increase the font size for *red statements inside the figure.

Conclusions

The conclusions must include the limitations of this study as well as should provide details of future studies related to this subject.

References:

The references are few and must be supported by more relevant and recent studies.

Reviewer 2 Report

In the manuscript Effects of climate change on water quality in Jucar River Basin (Spain) for urban water supply the authors analyse the effects of climate change in the quality of the water resources used for water supply.

I believe the manuscript is of interest and suitable for publication. I am attaching the commented version of the manuscript with some comments.
