Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The author has done a good job for gathering, and processing the data. However, the manuscript requires polishing. Below are the comments that can be considered to improve further:

It is necessary to add to the introduction the relevance of the study of lead, especially at such high doses (1000 mg/kg).

It is not clear why XRD analysis of uncontaminated soil was done. At the same time, other properties of uncontaminated soils (pH, organic matter, water-soluble salts) have not been described.

Why is there such a small proportion of the residual fraction on the soil of Loami Sandy (Fig. 3)?

Reviewer 2 Report

1) Justify the text in the entire document.

2) Write 5 sentences about the novelty of this work.

3) Compare the previous studies, their experimental conditions in the Introduction section, in the form of a table. It has to be related to Soil Remediation Processes for heavy metals.

4) Refer to recent literature from 2022, 2023.

5) What are the directives, laws, guidelines in your country for heavy metal contamination.

6) How many sites in China are identified to be polluted with heavy metals?

7) What measures have the government taken to clean up the soil?

NOTE: A detailed response is required. Don't just add one sentence to answer these comments.

8) Dont use words such as WE, HE, ME, OUR = Check eacn and every word and correct the sentences.

9) Dont refer to lot of REF in the materials and methods. For each REF, please write briefly the protocol, the procedure and explain to the readers.

10) Results and discussion

Improve the discussion on the following aspects and cite references:

10 a - Cd and Pb speciation

10 b - Role and influences of soil texture

10 c - Parameters affecting the high rates of stabilization

10 d - The distribution of contaminated heavy metal forms.

10 e - Role of pH and other parameters

10 f - Effect of soil crystal species

10 g - Effect of soil mechanical composition

11 . In some figures the X Y and Z axis text is small and distorted. Check and correct it please.

12 . Write the practical applications of this work and future research in 300 words before the conclusions.

13 - Conclusions = Write in one paragraph, < 150 words. Move all the other text to the results and discussions.

14 - REF formatting errors = TOO MUCH. Did the authors use some software?

Example = Review on Remediation Technologies of Soil Contaminated by Heavy Metals

It should be written as:

Review on remediation technologies of soil contaminated by heavy metals

15 - Check each word by word and correct all the references.

16 - All the points raised should be addressed and a DETAILED authors response file should be submitted.

17 - The authors should be congratulated for this excellent, practical work, and all the best to the students who did hard work on this research and my greatest appreciation to the team.
