Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Article interesting but needs improvement.

1. The introduction lacks a literature review from the subject related to the article at a general level. The citations are related more to the data of the study area.
2. Increase the number of citations.
3. The methodology lacks a map regarding the distribution of points analyzed. The text mentions several hundred wells.
4. Please clearly write in the results data on the collection of water samples for analysis.
5. Whether the analyses were made only for the results of 2019.
6. Why other water quality parameters were not tested.
7. Was each well sampled 38 times? How often were samples taken for analysis.

In this study, the groundwater monitoring network was expanded and optimized through ArcGIS. The results of have certain reference significance for optimizing groundwater monitoring networks. The results can provide reference for local groundwater management. The manuscript is suitable for publication, but there are still some issues that need to be addressed:

1.        Why the formula number in the Section 2 is 4. x?

2.        Please use three-line tables in the text.

3.        The text in Figures 3, 4 and 6 are not clear, please redraw. Additionally, indicate the titles of all coordinate axes.

4.        What are the specifications of the new monitoring well and the old monitoring well, such as the depth of the well? Are they monitoring groundwater from the same aquifer?

5.        The language of the manuscript needs to be improved.

In summary, a minor revision is recommended.

The language of the manuscript needs to be improved.
