After a thorough review of the research, I think minor changes should be made to the English review. Otherwise, the item is considered to be of very high quality.

This manuscript is a resubmission of an earlier submission. The following is a list of the peer review reports and author responses from that submission.

Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Thank you for the opportunity to review this interesting manuscript.

In Abstract, I suggest to eliminate this phrase " Of the 600 accepted questionnaires, 557 valid questionnaires were analyzed using structural equation models". I recommend to include the information about the used measures.

In Introduction, I believe that the authors should indicate in a more extensive way the references to the Chinese culture in the description of the main constructs (leisure involvement, the flow experience, and place attachment) to avoid a generic analysis of these topics.

For the chosen questionnaire, I will desire to read the detailed description of each part of the used measures, with the indication of the values of Cronbach alphas. Examples of statements are necessary. I suggest to eliminate the tab. 4, it is redundant for readers.

In addition, what is the specific procedure used for collecting the data?

Is formal and written consent requested prior to start the investigation?

Considering the high number of participants, this sample could be representative of the whole population of recreationists in these urban places or not?

The paragraph of marginal contribution is confused and the tab.10,11, and 12 are very difficult to read. I suggest to use acronym or labels for the included variables.

For the paragraph entitled "Suggestions", I recommend to modify the label or to include in the next "Future research".

Finally, Is this investigation free from limitations ?

I need to review this manuscript after the revisions by the authors.

Sincerely

Reviewer 2 Report

This study examined whether flow experience mediated the relationship between leisure involvement and place attachment. Although the topic of the study is interesting, this manuscript lacks a clear description regarding the purposes in the Introduction section and a substantiated theory in the Literature Review section. Please explain why it is necessary to explore relationships among leisure involvement, flow experience, and place attachment. In addition, although the authors mentioned that leisure involvement correlated positively with flow experience, they did not explain why leisure involvement related positively to flow experience. According to Csikzentmihalyi (1997), watching TV usually cannot generate flow. If leisure involvement is ‘watching TV’, may participants experience flow? Therefore, the authors need to explain this possible relationship between leisure involvement and flow experience.

A detailed description of the questionnaire is needed (this seems to be an invalid questionnaire).

Please note that AGFI, NFI, CFI, and IFI values were lower than 0.9 (this mode is not acceptable).

The manuscript needs general editing throughout to improve readability.
