Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Authors,

I have carefully reviewed the submission about the role of the landscape's cultural values in the practical work of biosphere reserves. The results were well-present, with tables and figures in detail. The text was written as brief and concise. In my opinion, the submission should be in present form.

Best regards,

Reviewer 2 Report

It is quite an interesting study to investigate the role of the landscape's cultural values in the biosphere reserves. The research design is clearly presented in the manuscript. Here are several suggestions for the authors.

1. Line 106-113, the scientific questions may be clear while the cited literature was not matched well. It is better to illustrate the originality and assumption of the study and also discuss the difference between your study and  the former research.

2. Line 164-187 , it seems the survey was taken in 2017, 2018 and 2019. As we all know people's opinion about things may change with time.  It is better to add the new survey in resent years.

3. For the result part,  it is better to discuss question mentioned before.

4. It is better to describe the practice implication more specifically with diagram.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer 2,

Thank you for your comments and suggestion of changes. Below follows the responses to your comments.

  • Line 104-113. The text and references have been changed in order to illustrate the aim of the study.
  • Line 164 -187. Unfortunately, the analysis of data was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are currently making a follow-up study in the biosphere reserve that hopefully will be presented in a manuscript by the end of this year.
  • The questions presented in line 109-116 are discussed in the discussion chapter.
  • A Conclusion chapter, including a table, has been added to the manuscript in order to illustrate the findings of the paper.

Yours Sincerely

Reviewer 3 Report

I found the article very interesting in the topic and very well structured.

The idea that any protected natural area -such as a biosphere reserve- is the result of a natural-&-human co-process, and we need to manage those areas within this equilibrium, is a winning idea. This article tells about an interesting case study, which shows -as a paradigm- how disaggregated and far from each other are often these two edges.

The article is very well constructed and clearly states and explains the survey pieces of evidence and discussion on achievements gained.

It is acceptable as it is, even if I would like to suggest making the final chapter more extended by entering more into what those "practical implications" would mean (mostly the last paragraph 4.5) instead of merely a list of points.
