Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I have read the paper carefully. It looks interesting and practical. My decision is positive about the publication of the article. However, it is recommended to revise it before possible publication. The following comments can help improve the paper,

*There already remain some parameters that should be defined. It is suggested to add a nomenclature.

*The finite element section should be detailed. For example, information regarding the type of mesh and the algorithm of meshing and the number of elements, etc. It can help the future researcher to easier compare their results with those of present ones.

*The decimal in Table 5 shall be the same for the p-value.

The authors conducted research on thermal analysis and wear of linear rolling guide for rRigid-flexible coupling motion stage. Generally it is a decent work.

 Some suggestions are as follows:

1)The abstract must be improved regarding ANSYS, in fact it is a finite element mechod instead of a software used in this research.

   2)The paper organization should be implemented in the end of the first section;

3)The element type and material property in ANSYS model should be illustated.

Reviewer 3 Report

The authors tried to investigate the temperature rise and wear of the Rolling guide for rigid-flexible coupling contact considering the FEM and experimental analysis as the method of investigation. Also, an RSM using ANOVA is performed to carry out a parametric study of the system. The paper is interesting and suitable for publication after the following concerns are addressed.

1.       Suggested Title: Combined Thermal and Wear analysis of Linear Rolling Guide subjected to Rigid-Flexible Coupling Motion

2.       Please change the numbering of the Introduction to 1

3.       Fig.9 like diagram for wear rate should be plotted.

4.       Details of measuring instruments: Measuring range accuracy and repeatability should be given in a table.

5.       Authors should provide the regression plot of the various parameters considered for ANOVA analysis.

6.       Fig.11 the verification of temperature is done with what please put the plot with which it is compared and justify the variation with suitable reason.

7.       Please provide the limitation and the application of the methods developed.

8.       Authors should discuss details of finite element model such as element type, size, number, mesh convergence etc. for the benefit of the readers.

9.       Please give the RSM plot of the wear rate, which will be more explanatory.

10.   If the authors have not considered the wear rate in the ANOVA, they should consider that.

11.   As part of thermal analysis authors should consider the heat flux in the system along with the temperature to complete thermal investigation.
