Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I have only a few small editorial notes:

  • Figure 1 – quality of text could be higher;
  • Figure 2- in the figure there are T1 -T4, but no explanation. I know it is later in the text. But it would be easier to find the explanation just under the figure;
  • Formula (1) and formula (2) – the format of formulas should be the same: in the (1) elements of formula are explained in separate lines, in the (2) it is continuous text. Once you use: “;” in the next formula “,”. The same with units, once fraction dash is used in other you have different form of units, with multiplication sign (it is on the bottom of line, it should be in the middle).
  • Lines 391 and 396, before formulas: it is better to use “:” on the end of line

Reviewer 2 Report

Manuscript concerns utilization of the biomass in the iron-ore sintering process. Authors applied different doses of lignin substitution of coke as the fuel. Manuscript is well written. It provides some new information important for practice of metallurgy. Manuscript is in scope of the journal. It can be recommended for publication after a few minor improvements following particular remarks.

  1. Fig. 5. Strength +6.3 mm?? What it does mean? Can strength be expressed in physical unit?
  2. Section 3.2. Impact of the size distribution of biomass on sintering process should be described and explained in details.
  3. Conclusion should be modified to be focused only on the new and the most important findings of the study.

Reviewer 3 Report

This paper deals with  the material research of lignin and the technological and ecological  parameters of the agglomeration process in laboratory conditions using biomass – lignin.

Abstract structure: the content and structure of the abstract is convincingly presented. Highlights are presented.

Introduction: the exact contribution of the article is clear to me.

Materials and Methods are convincingly presented (the selection and use of a particular biomass type called “technical hydrolysed lignin)  help to understand the research and the results.

Results and Discussion are appropriately presented.

The conclusions corresponds to the conceptual architecture of the paper.

Pictures: adequate number, presentation clearly and good quality.

Adequate list of the literature cited in the references.

In my opinion, revisions are not required - recommendation: Accept.

Author Response

Dear reviewer,

thank you for your recommendation.

Best regards.

[1] Is there a enough supply of lignin? Where it comes from? These topics should be addressed.

[2] The paragraphs in the abstract and in the paper is so long! These should be shortened for easier reading.
