As a whole, the study has been carried out to a high standard. The “Methods” section describes the used equipment and the operation modes of this equipment. The presented results of the performed experiments are of scientific and practical interest. The review of already conducted studies has also been performed at a fairly decent level. In general, the processing of workpieces made from titanium alloys, obtained by additive technologies, is an urgent and interesting task from the points of view of both science and production.
To make the manuscript more perceivable for the readers, a few minor revisions can be introduced.
In section 2.1, it would be good to indicate the parameters of the powder used to manufacture workpieces (the average particle size, the particle size distribution, etc.).
The manuscript describes in sufficient detail the research of the process of cutting the workpieces made from Ti6Al4V. A large number of experimental data are provided concerning the influence of cutting modes on surface roughness and cutting tool wear. It is concluded that it is the depth of cut that has the greatest influence and not the cutting speed. It would be interesting to provide data on why this happens and what is the reason for the significant influence of the depth of cut.

The reviewer comments of the paper «Machinability analysis of SLM-printed Ti6Al4V tubes during turning operations»- Reviewer
The authors presented an article «Machinability analysis of SLM-printed Ti6Al4V tubes during turning operations». However, there are several points in the article that require further explanation.
Comment 1:
The abstract needs to be improved.
Demonstrate in the abstract novelty, practical significance. Add quantitative and qualitative work results to the abstract.
Comment 2:
The introduction needs to be improved.
Firstly, group quotation is unacceptable in one phrase, for example [3-5]. Break this sentence into parts or individual sentences. For example, ... [...], ... [...], etc. Or one reference - one sentence.
Now the list of references needs to be supplemented with at least 4-6 more references published over the past 5 years. Here are some recent articles:
Journal of Materials Research and Technology 2021, 11, 719–753. Doi: 10.1016/j.jmrt.2021.01.031
Journal of Manufacturing Processes 2020, 57, 768-786. doi:10.1016/j.jmapro.2020.07.035
CIRP Journal of Manufacturing Science and Technology 2021, 35, 624-658. doi:10.1016/j.cirpj.2021.08.005
After analyzing the literature, show before formulating the goal of the "blank" spots. Which has not been previously done by other researchers. You must show the importance of the research being undertaken. Show what will be the new research approach in this article. You need to show a hypothesis.
What is the scientific novelty and practical significance.
State a clear purpose for the article.
Briefly describe what is done in each section.
Comment 3:
- Experimental setup
Are all figures original? If not needed appropriate citations and permissions. Refine this for figures throughout the article.
Add the material chemistry of the stock in a separate table. What is the hardness of the workpiece and how was it measured?
Describe in table the geometry of the cutter used in the research (rake and clearance angle, etc.). Show these dimensions in the photo.
Show the direction of the machine axes. How does this compare to measured cutting forces? Describe in the text.
Describe the measurement procedure in more detail. At what point in time? How is the measuring setup set up? How many repetitions of measurements? What statistical methods are used to process experimental results? Describe the experimental stand in more detail. What method of experiment planning is used and why?
Comment 4:
- Results
The description of all figures in the text must be supplemented. Minimum 3-4 sentences. It is also important to add a figure with output curves from cutting data. Analyze the nature of these curves in accordance with the influence of the cutting mode on these curves, feed, cutting speed, depth of cut. This needs to be explained in terms of cutting physics. What is the difference from previous work in this area?
Comment 5:
It will be useful to add a section of Nomenclature in which to sign all the physical quantities and abbreviations encountered in the article. There are many physical quantities in the text and such a section will help to find the description of the necessary element.
For example,
P : Density (g/cm3)
SLM : Selective laser melting
etc.
Comment 6:
Conclusions should be improved.
It is necessary to more clearly show the novelty of the article and the advantages of the proposed method. Add qualitative and quantitative results of your work. Show practical relevance.
The article is interesting, but needs to be improved. Authors should carefully study the comments and make improvements to the article step by step. After major changes can an article be considered for publication in the "Metals".

The authors have done a good job of improving the article. However, before publishing, it is important to do:
In its current form, the title is confusing. Perhaps it's better to write:
Machinability analysis of finish turning operations for Ti6Al4V tubes fabricated by selective laser melting
or
Machinability analysis of finish turning operations for Ti6Al4V tubes manufactured by selective laser melting
And the phrase "fabricated by laser powder bed fusion process" should be used in the abstract and in the introduction. There you can explain that part of this method is SLM.
Authors can decide to change it or leave it as is. But now the phrase "fabricated by laser powder bed fusion process" is used only in the title, it is not used in the article itself.
Author Response
As per reviewer's input the title of the article has been modified to incorporate SLM.
English language and spelling check has been carried out and changes are provided in the updated manuscript.
