Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors present an enhanced absorption performance of dye sensitized solar cell with composite materials and bilayer structure of nanorods and nanospheres. The research idea is well conceived and the results are well presented. However, there is some confusion in the materials and methods and the experiments to acquire the propounded results. I recommend the authors to consider the following comments for publication.

1- Revise the manuscript for typos and English editing mistakes, where there are many of them.

2- It is unclear as the authors have only presented the simulated results or these are the fabricated results? If only simulation then the authors have to clearly mention in the abstract and the methods section the name of the tool used for simulation. If fabricated then the authors need to provide the material characteristics of the nanostructure materials used.

3- Compare and contrast the DSSC efficiency with the recently published papers on SiO2 and TiO2 such as (https://doi.org/10.1007/s11581-018-2469-7, DOI: 10.1039/D0RA01366H and https://doi.org/10.1002/chem.201304522). Provide the comparison in tabular form.

4- Provide the limitations to the study and the future directions in the conclusion section.

Reviewer 2 Report

The submitted manuscript presents a research on dye sensitized solar cell with composite materials. The physical properties have been investigated by various method; However, some questions should be addressed for the clarify of the work and to be considered for publication.

Main questions:

  1. 2b, Fig. 4b, the author here should present new Tauc’s curve. These curves are not complete. The Y-axis values from 0 to 3-5 are missing. This will make the optics bandgap value incorrect.
  2. This article talks about the Absorption Performance of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell with Composite Materials and Bilayer Structure of Nano- rods and Nanospheres. However, the solar cell performance is not presented. Therefore, how the composite affects the solar cell performance is not clear. The author here should present more detail data or talk more about the relative between composite and solar cells performance.
  3. Table 1. Dimensions of spherical, triangular and nanorod geometries for aluminum plasmonic nanoparticle. Please present the TEM or SEM images of these spherical, triangular and nanorod geometries for aluminum plasmonic nanoparticle.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors have provided the response to the revision comments. I believe the manuscript is improved a lot and is viable to be published. Hence, I would like to accept the manuscript after minor revision of the following comment.

Comment:  Compare and contrast the DSSC efficiency with the recently published papers on SiO2 and TiO2 such as (https://doi.org/10.1007/s11581-018-2469-7, DOI: 10.1039/D0RA01366H and https://doi.org/10.1002/chem.201304522). Provide the comparison in tabular form. The papers and the table provided in the cover letter is not provided in the manuscript.

Author Response

The authors have provided the response to the revision comments. I believe the manuscript is improved a lot and is viable to be published. Hence, I would like to accept the manuscript after minor revision of the following comment.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for the valuable comments. As suggested, all the short comings are fully addressed into the revised manuscript.

Suggestions

Compare and contrast the DSSC efficiency with the recently published papers on SiO2 and TiO2 such as (https://doi.org/10.1007/s11581-018-2469-7, DOI: 10.1039/D0RA01366H and https://doi.org/10.1002/chem.201304522). Provide the comparison in tabular form. The papers and the table provided in the cover letter is not provided in the manuscript.

Answer: Thanks for the comments. We have compared the research work and provided in Table 4 of the revised manuscript.

Reviewer 2 Report

The author has revised the manuscript more carefully. Again, the Y axix value is invisible in the Tauc’s curve from 1 to ~2.5.

Reviewer-2 Comments & Suggestions

The author has revised the manuscript more carefully. Again, the Y axix value is invisible in the Tauc’s curve from 1 to ~2.5.

Answer: Thank you for your time and suggestion. We have revised the Tauc’s results. The Tauc’s results are added in the revised manuscript (Fig. 2b and 4c).
