Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The peer-reviewed article “Effects of TiAlN coating thickness on machined surface roughness, surface residual stresses and fatigue life in turning Inconel 718 at initial tool wear stage” is a comprehensive study containing all the necessary elements: a review of literature sources, statement of a scientific problem, its solution (modeling and experimental research), justification of the resulting solution. The relevance of this scientific research is confirmed by the financial support of 5 grants.

There are recommendations for improving the presented material:

1. lines 149-150: argue what was the basis for adopting these processing parameters (The rough machining parameters were adopted as cutting speed 40 m/min, depth of cut 0.1 mm and feed rate 0.1 mm/r.);

2 develop recommendations for the practical (in production conditions) application of the theoretical data presented in the article.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

- Title is very long, could you shorten it please?

- Abbreviation PVD is not defined in Abstract first.

- This can not be true: "[11, 12, 19–26]." Please make it more real like [19-21]....

- Last paragraph of Introduction is more like abstract. Please rewrite it. Add info about novelty of this manuscript, motivation, research gap, usage in practice, usage in some industry etc.

- Fig. 1(a) has not readable scale.

- All abbreviations must be defined first.

- In chapter 4. Results and discussion is not discussion at all. Please add rich discussion. Compare your results with results in other studies.

- Figs. 10 (b,c,e) are not focused. Please replace them with focused and sharp SEM pictures.

- Between number and unit is always gap.
